What gear do you finsh the 1/4 mile in? I'm geared 16/44, and shift into 5th at about the 1000' mark. I'm thinking I'm geared to low. Was wondering what gear others are running the 1/4 in?? Before, with 16/41 gearing, I was going through the traps in 4th, but just about to, or hitting the rev limiter before exiting the speed trap.

Hey, flat, we have the same gearing, when do you shift into 5th??
I changed back to 16/41 to see if it will change anything. I don't think shifting 4 times, is helping my time any. If I only have to shift 3 times I think it would be quicker, easier to launch, and now I'm 1 inch further back. I have run it like this before, but thought I was running out of fourth in the speed trap.
For those that replied, what gearing are you using??

16 41 I have to shift to 5th just before the finish line... I'm going back to 17 41 so i don't need that last shift.....

I would have to say before the 1000ft. Ok this is my theory about the airshifters and gears........when it comes to using a airshifter you can use alot more gear on the bike than you normaly would because,
1...you can position yourself better on the bike for better 60 foots (ie put belly on tank)
2...you dont have to get your feet up as fast for shift changes
3...as long as you have a fast shifting airshifter you can use as much gear as you can get.....and when i mean fast, think of the split second it takes for a airshifter to work...hundreds of seconds...but if it's off alittle and your using it say 5-6 times a run, that can add up to a tenth. It's just the little things that make the whole. Now if I go giggle juice i will go back to 16/41 or even stock. Remember anything past the 330 your just holding on..you can tell if it's a good pass by then

It's fine. I did about 200 miles on that gearing a month ago. I used a speedo healer so the speedo reads correctly. Don't remember what the MPG was, just wasn't interested in that. It easily lifts the front end coming out of corners, with flies in, and it never did that before.
Now with the flies out, it rips, snorts, and bucks. Coming down the return road at the track, you could loft the front wheel up from 2000 rpm. Try that stock.

Yea it's fine. I dont have the speed healer but usually i'm just keeping up with traffic. It turns the cruiser into a bruiser! You have to be carefull around corners though...it will get away if your not paying attention.

I have just the 16T and maybe the 44 is a bit much b/c I ride a lot of canyons and stay about 7000 most of the time. The throttle may be to twitchy at that RPM with a 44. Is there a 42 or 43 since the 16/41 is close to where I want it?

Will the gears from the 10 or 12 fit - in case they say they don't have 14 parts yet :-)

vortex or sprocket specialty...both will have what you want. Dont think the 12 sprockets are the same even though I have heard that...maybe i'm wrong

I am concerned with coming out of corners and lifting so I will try the 42 for now. Thanks......
