I didn't think that mount would work on the 14. I thought the plastic and the windscreen would be to close for slow/no speed lock to lock steering. I know a guy with his mounted to the top of the brake res., but it's a 7 and there's more room.
I used a straight edge and a level to get the one I have as close as possible. The top of the mount is almost perfectly even with the bottom of the letters KAWASAKI above the LCD screen. Still triing on pics. I only have a slr not a digital. One of the guys @ work has done some for me before but weather hasn't cooperated and he didn't have it today.

It works - no problem. The biggest benefit is that the mount isn't *smack in front of you* all the time, blocking your gauges. Sure, the stem mount is the simplest way to go, and it's probably the best way for a video camera, but I think it looks silly for a radar detector.

Oh, I just installed Heli risers too, and the V1 is still nearly 1/2" from the faring. There are absolutely no clearance issues.

That is the shits. I wish I would have gotten that one. Didn't think it would work on the 14. All the checking I did, didn't see that one as a 14 application.

I sent them a bunch of photos... they seem to have no interest in listing it as an option. I also think that their 49mm fork tube clamp (not yet listed as a product) would work well on the 14. I tried to buy one, but they don't seem to be interested in letting me try it out. They made the 49mm fork clamp for the 10R, but it's not officially listed for that model yet either. I think their "R&D" department is a tad slow. They know all of it works though...

Techmount also has a center stem mount - I haven't tried it yet, but sounds very reasonable.

Nope, won't work on the '14 since the mirror mount is not visable under the faring.

I really don't like any of these mounts for the 14. There has to be something that works and doesn't block the view of the gauges. With a taller windscreen I wonder if a screen mount would be the ticket.
Mount the detector in the air intake and use a remote display. Velco it to the top of your helmet. A shoulder mount for your jacket. Under the mirror. Something. :P

One of the guys I know mounted his in the 'garage light' of the 12. Obviously not an option with the 14. On the 12, I had to use a double-bubble screen and mount it to the screen. Again, not an option on the 14...Yet.

zerMATT, what is the part # of the mount that you used? Does It block your view of the Speedometer? It looks like a very solid mount. Is it?
Thanks

I used the 31001T. It blocks from 0mph to about 40mph while I'm in a "normal" riding position. If I'm riding hard in twisties, in more of a "tuck", it blocks a little more, but at that point, I don't care. During my normal commute, it just blocks up to about 40mph, but I can see the lower speeds if I simply shift my head to the right a bit. Yes, it's very solid.

Thanks zerMatt. I am going to order that one. I might try mounting it on the other side and see how that works out with the tach.

Ok still no pics. Tomorrow if all goes well. I got the new shaft today. It's 1" longer. Then they have another one that they do custom batches and they are going to make an extra for me. Email me and I will tell you were the manufacturer is for techmount. They are the ones doing the shafts for me.

Heres the pics
Ok, here's the 16mm stem mount 10990C (chrome)

Here are the two pics of the stock 3" height. Pretty obvious where it lines up.

Here's the 2 different shaft's third on the way.

Here's the same two shots of the alignment with the taller shaft. Much better.

Here's the view with my big ass Joe Rocket tank bag. With the short shaft you can't see half the rx65 because you can't go forward or up. Besides it can't see through the dash.

Sorry it took so long guys. Here's one more for fun.

I am hoping the next taller one will push it further forward out of the lcd screen. It might work or might not. I will post when I get it.
