ZX 14 ET's in Colorado I have been to our local track, Bandimere speedway, here in Denver all summer long waiting for 14's to show up and run the quarter mile. After a couple of months of waiting, I deceided to purchase my 14 at the end of June. I have 2200 easy miles on mine and I think I am ready to try my hand at the beast. I have seen two bikes with two different riders run their bikes so far. Fastest ET is 11.0 @ 127 mph. Tonight, another one ran 11.4 @ 130 mph. I know these times seem ridiculously slow to those of you who live at sea level, but consider that the track elevation here is almost 6000 feet. Factor in the heat and humidity and the adjusted altitude can reach almost 10000 feet. Hayabusa's typically run in the 11.0 to 11.2 @128 range and zx 12's run out @ 11.2 @ 126. Count your blessings if you live where there is thick air. These bikes up here couldn't match a zx 6's et at sealevel. Next Wednesday, I hope to be the first one at the track to get one of these things into the 10's. Damn we're slow up here!!! Wish me luck!!

I just got home from our high altitude track here in Colorado about an hour ago and put everything away. I was hoping to be the first 14 in Colorado to hit the tens in this thin air. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! THe bike ran flawlesly. Two hayabusas and a GSXR 1000 ran with me all night long. One Hayabusa with a 130 lb. rider went a best of 10.98 @131 mph. Another 2005 model turned 11.8 @ 122 mph with a 215 lb rider. I weighed in at 206 lb. with my leathers and helmet and ran 10.67 @ 133.6. The GSXR 1000 posted a best of 10.91 @ 132 mph( 185 lb rider). He was piped and geared. My 14 is bone stock with the tool kit still in it. I have never ridden a bike where the clutch worked so well all night long. These times seem really slow but the adjusted altitude was 8400 ft. Temperatures hovered at 93 degrees during our runs. Sure wish I could join you guys at a lower track level. Does anyone have an idea what a 10.67 corrects to @ sea level from 8400 adj, alt.?? Thanks

Name the time and the place and I will meet you there. This time of year in Colorado is truly one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. to ride. How about that new back road from Idaho Springs to Central city? Have you done that one yet? My favorite is Coal creek canyon. There are some 10 mph to 25 mph switchbacks that stir the soul !
