Sure!
I started riding again in 00 with the purchase of a 12R. At the same time, I bought a SV650 to race in WMRRA. Went hog crazy for a while, filling in the weekends between roadracing with trail riding (WR250F) and drag racing (*SECOND* 12r with 1361 motor (212 hp). In three years, I went from no bikes to doing 9.71 at the strip, over 190mph on the racetrack, and over 200 on the highway. I also purchased a 2002 ZZR1200 for sport touring. And yes, I had the Beetle Bags on it and thought they worked very well. I've experimented with other brands (Triumph) and other modes of transport (Ural GearUp sidecar). I still wanted to do track days, and bought a 10R for that.
So that brings me to the ZX14.
I found myself without a Kawsaki in my stable of bikes. I had sold both the 12Rs over the course of a couple of years. The 10R was way, way more bike than my skillset was capable of dealing with. A great bike, but I wasn't capable of exploiting what it had to offer. The Triumph is a competent sport tourer, but lacks any real excitement. Initially, I was excited about the 14, but somewhat put off by it's looks. After some time, I remembered the thought process that brought me to the ZZR1200, why I bought it, and what I might want to accomplish with the 14:
1. A competent handling bike that I can ride all day.
2. A bike capable of hauling me and all the gear I want from point A to B with a minimum of fuss.
3. A bike that's quiet, smooth and has all the torque of a friggin nuclear aircraft carrier.
Does the 14 fill these needs?
I think it has all the capability to do that, with the addition of a hard luggage system. I'm going to explore my options over the next year and see if I can put together a package that will satisfy me. I have to tell you, Regardless of whether you appreciate their styling or not, Corbin is doing a great job addressing the market for someone lookign for more relaxed and longer endurance riding on the 14.
My ZX14:
Mods:
Body: Removed DOT reflectors, rear fender. Used toolkit bracket for license plate bracket.
Additions:
Helibar risers.
PC3USB with stock map.
Scorpio alarm system with optional igition cut and perimeter sensing.
