Top Speed Restriction on ZX14
Hey folks,
It's been interesting reading all your discoveries on this new bike. I enjoyed reading here and Brock's site about he secondary butterfly plates.
Then I read an artical in Cycle World (I think) comparing the zx14 to the busa and they made a comment that the secondary butterfly valves were held closed under 6000 rpms in the first four gears and ALSO AT UPPER RPMS IN 6TH GEAR TO LIMIT BIKE TO 186mph.
I haven't seen this mentioned and know some of you will be doing top speed runs and that Ivan's TRE wouldn't remove this restriction if all it does is fool the ECU into thinking it's in 6th so I thought I'd share.

Not aware that they close in 6th above a certain RPM...where'd you see that? That makes no sense at all...in any case, once they are removed, end of story...

Whoops, my bad, it doesn't use the butterfly valves, instead the "...engine management computer ...not only limits peak revs in top gear to restrict maximum velocity to the industry's self-imposed 186-mph speed treaty...".
Sorry. I guess all I really picked out was that the computer is following a different program for 6th gear in which it restricts top speed.
