Has anyone seen/used the license plate that dissapears?

On this web page they have a plate cover that when you flick a switch, your plate is covered. Then when you hit the switch again it turns back to clear glass.
Has anyone seen or used one of these.

yes i have seen one of those. i guy i used to ride with had one on his decked out mladin ed. gsxr 1000. he would leave it clear when we were just cruising, but if we started getting a lil wreckless he would flip the switch. ive been behind him going approx 160 mph, and the thing still worked perfectly. im not exactly sure how it works, but i do know that it works really good. its an excellent add-on for all those "rough riders"(lol) out there. when he flips the switch, impossible to see through. but ALL legal when switch is off, so he said.

Not legal at all here, regardless if you can read the plate or not. Any cover over the plate, even clear plastic, is illegal here.

Uses photochromatic LCD technology... 1/10 of a second to go from opaque to clear.
Sold as for "show" purpose only.
A wee bit illegal... But again so are the speeds I ride at.lol

Does it also absorb/refract radar. Don't the cops usually aim at the plate? I know you usually get catch from the front but if the thing did double duty that would be a plus.
Kind of a joke question, but hey I'm bored.

No it doesn't absorb SFA.
And to be honest, on a Bike the biggest reflective surface is The Rider.
On older bikes the headlights made excellent radar reflectors... But these days they just aim the Lidar at the rider.

no they do not shoot laser at your body.they aim for highly reflective surface's such as the license plates first or red tail light lense or newer car headlights.the reflective surface shoots back they laser light way faster. thats why you need a diffuser.

Actually... (they), I just aim at the bike as a whole. It is like a gun... the radar shows a signal strength light bar (it also shows the speed) as well as an audible tone. There is no need to try to be as specific as trying to hit a license plate. With the new radar... it picks up bicycle riders just as easy as a it does a semi. Most squads are eqipped with mounted radar units which just pick up a general area... and it is still just as easy as shooting fish in a barrell to get accurate reads. I personaly am not into traffic citations... we deal more with drugs.. drunks and domestics.. which all tend to go hand in hand together!! However I have dealt with enough radar running to make my arm sore all over again... It is always fun to draw radar duty on a weekend to sit in 100 degree weather with your arm out the window. Right side of your body is cold from the A/C and the left side is hot as heck... Automatic headache!!!

Talked to a guy at bike night that had fabbed up a 'disappearing plate'. He used a servo out of a radio controlled car, some braided cable. The plate was on a spring mounted pivoting shaft. Very slick set up and very illegal here. Huge fine if they caught you with it on your bike even if you did not activate it.

That is exactly correct... It is hard enough to read them in town when they are halfway under the rear end... (fender eliminators are good at making it harder to see)... let alone out exceeding the speed limit... Most of our motorcycle high speed busts come from very good descriptions, direction of travel... and many times.. motorcycle goes boom... (although.. someitmes... police car goes boom.-- we still caught the guy... getting gas at gas station.... DUH!!!!)
