Farkles have arrived! My stuff finally started coming in the mail (Fed Ex, UPS, USPS) Friday. I spent some time Friday night installing my new exhaust & Throttle Meister. I have my PowerLet stuff left to install. I also got my Corbin seat on Saturday. It looks AWESOME but I can't seem to get the seat to latch with the cowl on. I have to put too much pressure on the rear of the seat to get the rear latch to lock in. Anyone with a Corbin have any info on that? Anyways, here are a few pics of the bike with the new Two Brothers M5 Carbon Fiber cans, TankLocker tank bag, and Throttle Meister. I'm going to get a fender eliminator kit, but I'll probably want to wire an LED to light the plate, and once I can get my Corbin to fit WITH the cowl, I'll be good to go.

Extreme close up of pipes...
Throttle-Meister...
Ass end shot of pipes...
I love the new pipes. As soon as I turn off the key after a hard ride, you can touch the pipes for 3 to 5 seconds before you even feel heat, and it's not a burning heat. A few minutes after I turn off the bike you can hold onto the pipes as long as you want and they are warm, but don't burn. There is a more powerful "seat-of-the-pants" feel with the pipes, though I don't have a Power Commander yet. Not to mention the weight. Even just trading the stock cans for these CF cans and mids, I probably saved about 20 pounds. I didn't realize, until I took them off, how heavy the stock cans and welded mids were. Sheesh. The sound is beautiful, deep and powerful. I DO have to get my earplugs in just right now, or the low frequency sound is actually worse than no plugs. They are louder than my XX Two Brothers pipes, so last night when I got in at 2 am from riding all night, I had to quick shift up to 3rd going down the alley to not be obnoxious. When I start her up you can hear it from inside the house. As a side effect I notice the bike is also running cooler too, and doesn't get as hot on the temp gauge as fast. She's STILL a nut roaster, but she pushes out the heat much faster now when I'm moving.
The Throttle-Meister works better than the one for my XX did, and was a MUCH easier install. I also love the TankLocker. Goes on easy, locks in place, holds a shit ton of stuff. I've got a PowerLet kit for the bag so I can run power to it for my cell, GPS, and radar. When I've got the bike all set up for a nice tour (coming up next weekend, 1500 mile weekend) I'll post pics. Damn I love this bike.

seat latch I also ran into the same problem- what I did was to remove rear latch and install two small washers under latch-that is one washer on each side between latch catch and seat pan. worked perfect-without them I think it would be real easy to snap cowling tabs. I also had a problem with center latch-actually it was the guide hole on the seat center latch it was not perfectly centered I slightly rounded out hole with a grinding stone-seat now easily mounts without requiring alot of pressure to secure-I called Corbin tech and advised. Good luck I am 5 ft 8 and love this seat.

That exhaust is Kick Ass!! If I get a set of these I will definitely get the optional silencer tips. On a long trip a loud exhaust can be really annoying. Not to mention the extra attention from the boys in blue. :P

I installled this fender eliminator. Very nicely made with wrinkle finish black paint. Fit perfectly. I'm a fuss budget so the home made approach was too much bother to do it right without spending time bending drilling painting etc. http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/i/minus-1/zx14_zzr1400.htm ____________

Just add a little LED light. Simple. There are tons of them on the market.

I love the cans - looks great! I'm still not a fan of that tank bag system though, it just looks odd sticking up like that.
I need to ask the Throttlemeister people if I can send mine in for that black finish treatment... I had their machined finish for my ZZR, but now I want black!

Sell it on E-bay and then order a black. The TM's sell really well on the bay.

Just looked at eBay - they do sell well. Looks like $100 is pretty common for the heavy ones...

Use any fender eliminator, and then visit this site : http://www.customdynamics.com/illuminatorz_licence_plates.htm
They have lighted screws for your plate, or several lighted frames that will fit on any eliminator.

I know it looks a little odd, but it works GREAT and it keeps the bag from rubbing on my paint, which we all know the Kawi black on the 14 is a bit soft as it is, take scratches and rub marks all too easily. I like the way the bag works, it's quick on/quick off, the lock mechanism works great, and most of all, it saves my paint.

Tampa Motorsports has a ZX14 on the show room with the same carbon two brothers cans installed. They absolutely looked awesome on that bike, although I'm trying to purchase a full exhaust. I haven't grasped the concept of slip-ons when the benefits of a hfull exhaust appear to offer a better return on investment. But again those cans looked so sweet on the 14!

Nice set up!!! Hey... are you going to be cruising through Lake Geneve on the ride next weekend?? I have yet to see another 14 in this area. I would have thought with Chicago Cycle so close that there would have been more around. Most of the bikes here (as you know) are Harleys! I rode through the other day and about 10 guys were out by the sports bar and yelled to me and my wife.."well there are three pussies".... I have to admit it was a great line!!!... then one asked me if I knew how to get it into 2nd gear.. to which I replied.. "for your bikes.. I don't need it!!" A good combo.. a bunch of Harleys... and a lot of drunk riders..Anyway...have a great ride!!!!!

The whole kit and kaboodle... Alrighty then! With some help from vtxtc on the Corbin, I've finally got everything ready to hit the road next weekend. I ended up using 2 washers underneat the rear latch and now it clicks down easy as pie, not to mention it's easy to get the seat off too. I also broke out the dremel and opened the spring hole just a bit more so it wouldn't bind, and how sweet it is! So, after spending most of the afternoon running power, wiring stuff up, and fitting stuff on, I figured I'd post the rest of the pics. Here she is, same day, early evening, ready to hit the road and do a Saddle Sore 1000!
Close up of the "cockpit", side angle...
3/4 front shot, looking like a hungry bird of prey...
Full on side shot, Nelson Rigg soft bags in place, TankLocker, with PowerLet running under the seat running phone charger, GPS and radar from bag...
Rear shot. Might adjust bags up just a little, but they don't hit the pipes (not that it would matter, the pipes don't get hot enough to melt anything) and they are hanging even...
Cockpit, sitting straight up in the seat. I can see enough of the speedo and tach to judge my speed, not to mention the screen I run on the GPS when I'm on a long leg and not making any turnoffs shows my current speed, max speed, ETA to destination, and several other things, so I don't need to see my speedo when sitting bolt upright...
Cockpit from more of a riding PoV. I can see the entire speedo, the tach up to 11.5 k, my radar (though I get sound from that, and my GPS. This is more my normal Point of View...
Front shot. The bags are almost as wide as the mirrors, so I should still be ok manuvering. I had the same Nelson Rigg setup on my XX and traveled across the country to California, Myrtle Beach, and points south with that set up. It also has a tail bag, but I won't need that for the trip I have coming up...
The Corbin feels good, though I only have about 20 miles in the saddle with it. I'll be riding to work with it all week to break it in a bit, but I can already tell that I'll be able to stay in the saddle a LOT longer with the Corbin than I could with the stock seat. I went from 80 to 85 miles before needing a rest to running the tank dry (200-230 miles) on my XX once I got the Corbin, and I can only imagine this being much the same effect.
Did I say how much I love this bike? I'm even considering taking the flies out, though I haven't quite made up my mind on that one yet. Damn...I love this bike.

We all know the single side can has the benefit of more power, and less weight. However, some of us are happy with the power of the ZX as it is and don't really need mods for more power. I am one of those. I'm not putting turbos or nitrous or stretched swingarms on mine, it will probably only see the track once or twice to get some 1/4 mile times, just for my benefit, and maybe a few track days to help me ride it better (though my chicken strips are pretty small - only the very edge of the tire isn't being used, so I'm happy with my performance there), and it's primary duty is going to be high speed, long distance touring, and some light to medium twisty scratching upon arrival. Therefore most of my changes are cosmetic/appearance based. I LOVE the look of 2 pipes on the big dogs. They (XX, Busa, ZX-11, ZX14, ZZR1200, et. al), just look MUCH better to me with dual pipes. Balanced. Equal. To me, only the small bikes look good with one pipe, due to their shorter wheelbase and racy configuration. I'm not looking necessarily for a good RoI. I DID get a minor horsepower boost and a definite weight loss with the dual slips, and I'm ecstatic with how they look and sound. That is more important to me than overall performance enhancement, and I would have bought the new pipes even if they DIDN'T offer me a performance boost, strictly because they look good on her.
To each his own though, and I got nothing against the 1/4 mile guys that stretch em out, single pipe em up, and whose bikes primarily live their lives one quarter mile at a time. That's all good too. That's the beauty of a bike like this, it can be many different things to many different people. Rock on.

LOL Dubious. I used to be a cop. I don't care if people see my plate on the internet. If they decide they want to come find me, come on, I've got something for them. People see my plate every day when I ride the thing, and will from here to California to New York to Florida and back, so what difference does it make if it's on the internet?
