Thanks, all.

quote: Fastestbusa do you have any troubles with the idle jumping around or bike wanting to die right off the hit of throttle?
None whatsoever, because it was properly mapped and setup by Brock...the last Busa I had, did have issues at low RPM and idle, kinda of like chugging at low speeds, at idle and was jerky, despite the mapping, Dyno etc......but this bike...smooth as a baby's ass!
IMO, the bike was designed this way...it's more like the "taming" they did with regards to the timing and the flies was an afterthought, and not well executed at that. This is the way the bike feels it was made to be run. It runs better and smoother this way and that's the 1st time I have ever seen a bike run smoother after mods...and I've had and modded many bikes before. The pipes, flies and map make this bike smooth...and the instant power delivery of the Busa is ever present now...even more so. The bike could use some timing though...it's still retarded and will be fixed with an ignition module. The TRE would probably do the trick, only for timimg correction -- but I'm not giving up my shift indicator. I'll just spend the bucks to do it correctly and keep the shift indicator.
The only thing that I found strange after I did the mods, was that the back end was very bouncy and it didn't dawn on me till the end of a 300+ mile ride that because the bike lost about 30 lbs, the rear suspension needed to be adjusted downwards...

A couple say there is an advantage to pulling the flies and having the TRE (zxbob, being one.). Others say there is no need for both (Brock being the main component.). I have no intention of questioning Brock's ability. He has been great. However, he may have other considerations behind the scenes...Liability, and whatnot. Is there any consensus on this? Also, what about mapping w/both? I guess pulling the TRE makes sense, unless I'm giving something up...
Yes, timing I believe would be what you are giving up, though I don't know this for a fact...but Ivan claims that the bike runs the 6th gear map, which would probably retard less on the timing. Brock did mention that when you pull the flies, a TRE doesn't do anything more...however, and I won't argue with him, it's possible that timing might be helped with the TRE...however, I only suspect that and cannot confrm it, nor will I bother...in any case, the gains would not do anything on peak HP, just perhaps smoothing out power delivery under WOT? Again, I can't confirm that. On the other hand, Ivan said that there was no advantage to the fliy removal with a TRE...which we all know is crap, Brock proved that there was another 5-7HP at 3500 RPM with the flies removed VS the TRE only.

I rode about 60 miles today with my Smeg-TRACK-NOSEC_MAP.
This is the exact map Sonny used to run 9.15 with no air cleaner and MR9 fuel.
I will be racing the bike at the track Tuesday so I left the map in and the flies out.
I installed my air cleaner and 89 octane pump gas before I left today. Of course the bike is down about 10 HP average....but it was a COMPLETE JOY to ride and STILL FAST AS HELL! The throttle response and drivability was PERFECT. The only ill affect I have noticed is an occasional pop form the exhaust during shifts. I have my pair blocked so I'm sure it is a simple rich (?) condition loading a bit of fuel in the pipe after blipping the gas to shift. For now, I will have to live with it. My data logger will be on the bike Tuesday so I will know more about the A/F ratio with the bike moving. Of course I will forward any cure I find to my customers via the private section of our forum.
The throttle response is MUCH smoother than with the MR9 and filter out. Once I re-trained myself to modulate the throttle, it was every bit as smooth as any Busa I have ever mapped.
The bike makes so much torque that the lower rev/wide open throttle position stalls that plagued me on the dyno DID NOT OCCUR on the street. You would have to be a horrible rider to even get in a position to bog the bike to the point of shut off on the street.
I officially stand corrected on my no fly's stance and must now of course admit to being a VERY happy member of the "need to compensate" club!

Great news Brock...BTW, your map and exhaust setup is a work of art. As I said in one of my other posts, this bike now feels like it came from KAW this way...it's smoother than stock with much more linear power delivery. Very reminiscent of the stock Busa in terms of throttle response and power delivery...I know you spent a lot of time mapping the setup, because I can feel it every time I take the bike for a spin...
Two other things to note:
1) Engine heat is down substantially...don't know how much exactly, but I'm running one bar below center at 60 MPH in 78 degree weather where I was running center before. Heat on the rider is less too, far less -- and this is right after the mods.
2) Gas consumption is down as well...I was getting 36 MPG today instead of 32 at an average speed of 85 MPH.
I had a tough time getting off the bike for even a minute today...it's a brand new bike now...and it puts a big shitfaced grin from ear to ear every time I twist the throttle. I don't downshift anymore from 6th at 70 to pass...it just pulls like stink at any RPM now. Never has this type of mod made such a huge difference on a bike I have ever owned before. BTW, I'm heading to Picotte's Dyno tomorrow for one final map session on the 10R...It has your Gen 3 /PC3 on it and no other mods (not even filter). I'll run it with the map you sent me with the flies removed and when I'm done mapping, I'll shoot the map to you to do what you like with. Big thanks again for the system/mapping...etc.

also remeber that these bikes seem to get better MPG as the miles get put on it. From reading around on here most don't seem to get there final steady MPG untill around 4-5thousand miles is on the bike.

That's what I would've thought, but some seem to nay-say it. It's already bought and on, I'm leaving it.
Much obliged.

I've got 10000 k on mine with stock pipe-no flies and my pc3 manually set to full fuel @low and mid rpm with schnitz racing stock map= runs pretty well perfect !plus 18k/l fuel mileage at 120k in 5th..16 tooth in front gives me extra umph ...

Hey Busa, My stock tire can't hold pressure. I've had it looked at and it still can't hold. Is it possible the bike came with a bent rim? It lasts one day, then drops to 19 psi.

Well I just removed my flies and installed Brock's map and all I can say is WOW. The bike is totally a different aniaml now. But smoth as galss when riding normal. but you hit the throttle and hold on. Now the bike seems much easier to launch, can't wait to get back to the track.

Hey tosado... maybe that is from those auto pressure gauges you used at 155mph??!! It may be a valve stem problem... I would really watch my speeds until it is looked at.... It really wrecks the day when the valve stem rips while exceeding the speed limit.

I've heard many people talk about that, but I've never seen it actually happen.
I had the valve stems checked.
