Shift Light

What rpm are you drag racing types setting your shift light at for maximum acceleration?

I've got mine set at either 9,500 or 10,000 since HP is starting to drop off by that point anyway. BUT, since you can't really see the shift light, it doesn't matter much...

10, 300 to keep it off the limiter!
With brocks pipe, it pulls hard right into the limiter

I agree with Matt---I have mine set at 10.4 but can only see it if I am looking down. At 10,000 plus rpms, the road ahead seems to hold my attention a little more than down and to the right.

What shift light?? J/K I just watch the tach and shift at 11k. My gearing is different than stock and bike pulls hard to 11.

set it a little past peak power. that way when you shift it it will fall right back into the power.

Is your shift light set to bright? Man, mine is impossible to miss even on a sunny day.

You must have a newer model shift light than I do... sure, I can "see" mine on a sunny day, but not while I'm doing 120+ focused on the road ahead. As Easy pointed out, the road ahead has nearly all of my attention, and that little blinking LED (bright or bright & blink) does little to get my attention!

I'm with FTS. I see mine @ whatever gear, day or night. Bright flashing. I did miss it runnin a wheelie the other day though. That sucked. I'm not real big on ridin them though and only did it cause it was already up there. Didn't hit the hi-point, limiter instead. FUC*

Now here is an idea!

For those of you who use a H.A.R.D. system, how about duplexing the shift light into the H.A.R.D. ? That is impossible to miss.

I don't drag race, but man if I did.....

zerMATT, you have a H.A.R.D. system, what you think?

When I rode the 14 on the strip it was set for 10,500, but I shifted at 11,000...

Actually the shift light was annoying because it lit bright and took my consentration away from shifting at 11,000, I went to 11,200 during one shift but no rev limiter...

Guys if you shift at peak HorsePower then the RPM for the next gear will be below the peak HorsePower which means your losing power and that Busa will be on your ass...Always shift at redline!!!
