Ok finally got the clutch in yesterday. I used all the outside larger fibers this time. I left the chatter rings and used the thin inside ring. Stack hight was fine, and i shimmed up the springs .140.The clutch felt really good, did a few roll ons and everything felt fine. I took it out lastnight and put 30 miles on it and everything seemed ok so far. Tonight is the drags...we'll see how it holds up tonight. I'll let you guys know.

Well we called the drags lastnight and they said they was running, we packed up and head out. There was a guy there on a black, stretched 14 i got to talking too. I got a look at his clutch and noticed the stack hight on my bike is maybe 2mil taller than stock. I got to make 3 passes lastnight....first one i babied it out of the hole because this was the first time the clutch had a good launch on it...9.75 at 141....hmmm.... "mph is down, but that was a shitty 60 and bad weather"....ok 2nd pass......bike spins bad.....3rd pass...20 psi in tire....bike spins....damn this sucks...then the rain let loose. It was a offical rain out then...oh well...i have a few issues with the bike i have to fix before next week anyway, this will give me some time. The 16t sprocket showed up on my door step yesterday so i will have it on by next week. I lowered the ass end down all the way and it didnt want to pull the frontend up at all...to be honest it felt like it need'd more gear...we'll see what happens when i put the 16t on it, if i dont like it i'll move it back up alittle.
Smokin...damn that sucks

flatoutbu..........on the stack height that outer pressure plate that holds the springs locks up
with the innner hub if the stack height is too high it could strip the teeth off of each other.
The next time you pull it apart check & see how much teeth are left before it becomes
dis-engaged. The master cylinder wants to push the pressure plate out so you have to
push it in hard to get a correct reading. I would think you would need about 150 thousands
because as you pull the clutch in it pushes the pressure plate out even more. You probably
don't need the shims if the pressure plate is out 2mm that's about the same distance
as the shims. If the springs are too strong it won't slip to get a good 60 ft.

flatoutbu how long is your bike ?? I added 5 inchs to mine today , i really did not want to go that far but the tire was touching the chain gaurd bracket at 3 1/2... I ended up at about 5 inchs to get safe clearance....I ended up using 136 links on the chain and that was with a 16 tooth front sprocket, stock rear sprocket ..... Thanks Smokin....

Rich....I used the ol'e eye ball method when it came to stack hight. I used what you told me about the bevel on the pressure plate being almost even with the basket. When you look at it now the bevel sticks out about a 1/16 of a inch past the basket. when i went to the drags the other night i looked at a stock 14 basket and the bevel was even or slightly inside the basket...but were talking barely. Think i should take the shims out? I could still slip it out the the hole...but the bike kind of felt ....sluggish....wish i could elaborate on that better.
Smokin....i got a buddy to help me get a good measurement on wheelbase the other night.....it's six inchs out at 63 1/2...thats with stock 17t,up 2 in back. I figure with the 16t i have for the bike it will pit me at 64 even. I have the muzzy non adjustable links and i put the bike down on the lowest hole before i went wednesday....the bike would wheelie at the end of first alittle before i lowered it.....now it doesnt do anything. My sixty was crap but i keep changing set-ups and i dont have a good "base" to tune it off of. i wasn't sure if it was me the other night or the bike. It felt good coming out of the hole but the sixtys wasnt there. Not sure if it was me or what...maybe the new clutch or something. I need some more time on the bike before i can reall say. I might go back to the 2nd hole in the links and start from there....that way the only thing i changes was the clutch and if i have problems i can elimnate them one at a time. One step foward 2 back.

oh and the clutch has a slight growl when you pull it in with it in gear. when you let it out it's fine.

Sounds very close to the wheel base i have now ..Mines set at the lowest hole on the Muzzy links .... I'm testing this Sat if no rain ...I'll let you know what happens but i'm looking for 5.90s in the 1/8 mile...
