How fast can a ZX14 do a 0-100-0?

Just read that the Bugatti Veyron went faster than a GSX-R 1000 in a 0-100-0 (9.90 vs. 10.70 seconds)... Would a ZX14 have fared much better? Could it have beaten the car? What do you guys think?

It should beat that number.

Stock bikes seem to be getting over 100mph in the 1/8 in the low 6's. The brakes are so phenomenal on this bike, I would dare say that it will stop it from 100 in less than 3.5 seconds. You have to really respect the brakes on this bike due to how fast it sheds the speed on a 540 lb motorcycle plus rider weight... I could be wrong, and would be surprised if I am.

I dunno... threshold breaking in a car is completely different than on a bike. Plus, that car's probably got ABS, which means that you simply MASH the brake pedal as hard as you possible can and wait until you stop. It's completely different on a motorcycle.

That said, I know that *I* could not confidently threshold brake on this bike from 100mph, but I'm sure there are a few of you out there that can. I don't track my bike, so I have little experience exploring my 14's limits like that. Put me in my car, and it's a different story, in fact I'd say that just about any moron without much skill could eek out a car's best 0-100-0 numbers with a couple of attempts. It's just a different story on a 2-wheeled vehicle without ABS.

Bugatti's 0-100 time is 5.5 seconds; 0-60 is 2.8 seconds by the way...

Where did he see it? I'd love to watch that. I will buy the magazine (British car mag Autocar) tonight for the 0-100-0 article and see how fast the GSX-R was to 100 mph. There was no reference to this number and I suspect it must be at least equal to or possibly better than the Bugatti's. I believe the car got the bike in 100-0 part (3.4 secs!!!) and because the difference in 0-100 (if there was one, this is a 1001 HP car after all!) was not great enough the bike lost in the overall race...

how about a little comparison:
zx14 will go to 100 and stops at zero, corvett z06 has not made it to 100 yet.

A couple of years ago that test was done with the Z06 and the gixxer 1K.The bike did go 0-100 and back to zero before the vette hit 100.

The 14 should do 0-60 in less than 2.8...with the right launch more like 2.5...but the Bug has the advantage in braking...with 4 wheels on the ground...so I'm guessing that almost any schmuck could make the Bug perform while it would take a very hot rider to match or beat it -- after all we don't have to worry about the Bug pulling wheelies.

You are comparing a stock car to a modified 14? So, just add a T/C to the 14 and then there's no question about what would be faster...Stock to stock, the 14 might not beat it...the Bug can do 0-300KMH in under 14 seconds...can a stock 14 do that? Think it would be closer to 15+ seconds...so then it would all be about braking like SWFT said...me thinks it would be a tough race for the 14 in any case...the car has 1001 HP, so power to weight is there...once again, all about the rider's ability to bring it from 100-0, without doing an endo.

That Bug weighs 4162 frikkin' lbs. At 1001 hp, that's about 4.16lbs/HP.

The ZX-14 is making how many ponies at the crank? Let's just say 180 HP and 550lbs. That's still only 3.06lbs/HP. Throw on a 150lbs rider and it's 3.89lbs/HP.

PS...the new Z06 can go 0-100 in 7.9 seconds.

Or.................I could buy roughly 148 ZX-14's at list price.
Let's see, sales tax in TX comes to roughly $106,000.
If someone gave me one, I would have to finance the sales tax on a 20 year note!!!

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

4162 pounds/1001hp: PIG
700pounds/200hp, or [225hp/650 pounds: pipe, wheels, ceramic discs].
No way the Bug hangs till after 200mph, is there? If they run that long.
Bug lies.
Remember the last 1? Absolute pig.

ABS model would be nice for us old guys. Gotta love marketing/DOT guys.
Not that I don't still badly need brake practice.
My 14 acts like it wants to wash out the front end. It doesn't want to endo like my 10R used to.
Which is harder to get used to?

I watched a thing on that car. Unbelievable!! It had a Ferrari F40 or something running it. The Ferrari could go by it accelerating at 100 and the Bug was stopped. The Bug would pass it before 140. If I remember the numbers correctly.

G's gotta be awsome!! I gotta think it's running a viscous all wheel drive set-up or something too. They had it in the snow on a lake and it would still scream.

No snow for my 14.

Thats one i would have to see to believe.Im guessing the F40 would get to 140 from 100 in 3-4 seconds, which means the Bug would have to get there in 3/12 seconds from a stop.thats faster than an NHRA pro stock dragster
