Muzzy's Frame Sliders Arrrived I got my Muzzy's frame sliders today. They are nicely made and seem to be designed well. They attach to the enginge mounts with new 180,000 lb tensile strength ARP bolts. Use a torque wrench at 44 lb/ft and install the anodized aluminum spacer. The long spacer goes on the left side of the bike. Be sure and use anti-seize on the bolts both to prevent the bolt from galling and welding itself to the mount over time and to ensure proper torque. Then the delrin sliders are installed with the special bolts supplied. Again use anti-seize.

Wow, those are nice! Their ad doesn't say anything about including a spacer, that explains the slightly high price at $99... but it looks like it's worth it.

They look great. Are you concerned about breaking the engine mount if you lay it down? I look at my 14's engine mount and imagine a frame slider on it ,and wonder "would I rather just have some broke plastic if it fell over!?"
I know the bolt is strong but what is the mount rated at?
Maybe I'm way off...just thinking......

The hollow delrin should be able to absorb a good deal of energy. If you crash hard enough to get to the spacer you will have bigger things to worry about.

I have a similar concern....................mashed scratched plastic is expensive, but a screwed up frame would be worse! All the same it would be nice to have some protection for a low speed tip over.

By attaching to both the engine and the frame, then braced between by a spacer... I doubt you'd have much to worry about. If you hit one of these things *that* hard, you've got a lot more important things to worry about than broken motorcycle parts.
This appears to be as beefy as a person could design a slider for our bikes, and the installation point is the best choice to protect the motor and *some* plastic in the event of a lay-down. Sure, if it clipped a curb while sliding down the road at 60+ mph, it might rip right out of the mount point, but if that happened, you'd be losing your engine and frame whether you had sliders or not. Sliders can only do so much, and they'll help in most lay-downs... but a bad get-off will likely be a total anyway... no way around that.

Let's see them on the bike.... get some pics on this thread! The only ones I have seen are the close-up shots.

Soon as I get another ZX-14 I will. Probably next week! Won't be able to ride it for a while though. ____________

They're great. I'm just having a prob with the fact that they charged me $159.95 for themon the TWENTY EIGHTH of this month, which is AFTER they lowered the price to $99.95. I've left messages with them, but no response back yet...
Update: Was contacted this morning by Muzzys. All fixed, difference was refunded no probs.

I just ordered a set and they are "backordered". Guess you all bought them all. Any way a rep sent me a nice reply to my "how long on backorder" e-mail question to Muzzy before I placed the order:
Steve,
The brackets will go to be anodize on Monday. The following Monday we should start shipping them.

Just a reminder if you are installing these. Remember to use either blue loc-tite or anti seize on the engine bolts. Be sure and use a torque wrench set at 44 ft lbs. to install. Do not over tighten the big bolt that holds the delrin and use plenty of anti seize on that one. A steel bolt into aluminum means lots of galvanic corrosion if not lubricated.

Yes but it was Kawi OEM threadlock not Loc-tite. Red loc-tite would be a SOB to remove. The thread lock on the stock bolts was pretty easy to remove.

Yeah, that Kawi OEM red stuff is more of a putty than normal red Permatex Loctite that tends to crystalize and glue things together. It causes resistance, but doesn't really "lock on" much. I don't think that OEM red stuff does much more than a lock-washer.
