Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's Methanol that eats plastic. Ethanol is supposed to be safe for plastics. You can even buy ethanol in plastic bottles.

Check your owners manual. It gives you exact details on fuel, alcohol content and type. Ethanol is in all of the gas in my location. It will not hurt your bike in low concentrations. It's Methanol that's a no no.

Ethanol doesn't eat the plastic or rubber of any vehicle made in the last fifteen years.

Whoever told you it does is incorrect.

Quotes from the ZX-14 Owners Manual:

"Never use gasohol with more than 10% ethanol, or more than 5% methanol."

"Never store this product with gasohol in the fuel system."

"Fuel system performance problems may result."

"You may use gasoline containing up to 15% MTBE." (MTBE is the law where I live...)
