butterfly valves
Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to find and remove the butterfly valves?
Also any tips from anyone who has done it....

Just read this thread, it tells you how to do it on the 10, but the 14 is about the same, just remove the fake tank cover, then unbolt the gas tank and pivot up to access the cover plates that cover all this stuff.

I took mine out a couple weeks ago..took it to a dyno..yes she's running lean at lower rpm but not enough [under average riding conditions=low load]to panic.my pc3usb is arriving monday..I"richen the bottom end and go riding..it's running cool and very fast without..can't wait I'd never put the flies back..throttle response is now like my 10r was!

INstructions on how to remove butterfly plates. Take off the plastic piece that is infront of the tank, this piece looks like its part of the tank and on the sides it has the push in grommit piece so you will need to unscrew all screws and pull each side out ward away from the tank, then in the middle where the plastic meets the tank there are two clips that the plastic piece slide into towards the tank so you will want to slide the plastic piece foreward away from the tank. Take off seat, you will now see 2 bolts both ontop of tank and under seat towards front that hold tank down. Undo these 4 bolts. This step is important, you can now lift the front of the tank up (do this when your tank does not have alot of fuel to make it easier) fairly high, I took 2-3 towells and folded them and stuffed them under the tank so it propped the tank up so I could work on it. You will now see 2 cover plates with 3? screws in each one, the left plate has a sensor on it, no need to unplug it. take these plate covers off and set aside. now you can see under each cover plate 2 butterfly valves for a total of 4 butterflies. you will se each butterfly as 2 small phillips hea screws in it, be carefull as have locktite to hold them n. You need to push very firm to not strip these screw heads and not lose the screw down in the butterfy. put your butterflies and screws in a bag and ut them away. I hope this helps!!!!

use magnetic screw driver, or pickup tool, make sure the primary throttle stays closed during entire process.. DO NOT LET YOUR BUDDY TWIST THE THROTTLE!
that way if for some horrible reason, you drop a screw you can retrive it, and it will not endup insde the engine!
