Sorry it did nothing for you? But to put it in you only need to remove the right ram air cover.

for over 7 years now we have been using a concoction, similar to what has been mentioned above. we have found a 70% water/30% coolant mix, with 5 ounces of water wetter type additive( there are other brands out there that do the same thing) poured onto the cooling system before filling,to help alot in the hot climates/running conditions. i did this change when i performed the 500 mile breakin on my 14.it certainly helped in the stop and go traffic, the temp taking longer to rise, and less time to fall once underway.
when the engine had over 1000 miles,an oil change to amsoil 10-40 full synthetic m/c oli also slowed the temp rise. on bikes with digital temp readouts, we have seen drops of up to 4 degrees in coolant temps with amsoil and mobil 1 mx4t oils.
any type of "unplugging" of the exhaust will also contribute to lower coolant temps. the more efficient an engine runs can sometimes bring down operating temps. by getting rid of some exhaust back=pressure, you will also achieve better "blowdown",which is less burnt gasses( aka exhaust) contaminating the incoming air/fuel mixture. this contamination results in a hotter intake charge in the cylinder at the time the exhaust valves close, and that charge is less combutible, making less power, contibuting to a less efficient engine. it's a viscous circle.
ambient weather conditions also have an effect. humid conditions like we have here in
south fla,or other areas will have engines running hotter.
hope this helps

Hey 2toGo. I guess all bikes are different. Glad the water wetter worked for you. I was out today for a 150 mile ride. It was 88 F ambient temp. I now have 1,000 miles on the bike with one oil+filter change. Running decayed dinos up to around 2,000 or so miles then switching over to full syn. The temp meter still doesn't show improvement with water wetter but then since I don't know the actual temp maybe it is running a few degrees cooler. All I know is that the gauge runs 2nd bar above C (bar having its top at the mid line) while I'm running above 50 mph. Below 50 it jumps to the next bar (one with its bottom at the mid line). It has only gone one bar higher once, a couple of days ago when I got caught in a road repair and traffic was down to a single lane and my lane was stopped for 10 minutes. I turned the bike off. When restarted it was OK. I'm thinking that the real benefit will come from a couple of things: (1) remapping with a PC so it doesn't run so lean (2) aftermarket full exhaust to get rid of the CATS and let the heat go out the back better, (3) full syn lube, and (4) more miles on the bike. All will happen in the near future. Also wondering if at idle with no forward motion if the exhaust headers are actually heating the water in the radiator. They are very close. Opinion is that Kawi should have installed a 2nd fan to improve behavior in traffic and city driving. All in all I'm a 14 fan, love this thing, and more than willing to put up with a minor heat issue.

Hey Rap,
I agree with the other mods. I have 2 full Muzzy systems and pcIII's coming. Should be here this week. I also think the heat from the exhaust heats the rad. The wetter seems to allow the temp to cool quicker upon movement than it did without it. Just what it appears to me. Absolutly love the bikes !!!! I do believe they should have came with 2 fans. Possible recall ? Who knows ? Riding down the road, not even a hint of overheating. Only real problem with these things is, all they want is more throttle. But that is a problem we can accomodate !!

I installed the powercommander, full muzzy 4 into 1, Muzzy fan, and changed the oil to 20/50 dead dino oil, and the bike runs at the exact same temps as it did before. I now have 1000 miles on it, and there has been no change in temp. The Muzzy fan definately moves some air, but strangely the bike doesn't run any cooler. Temp gauge cruising is at the 1/2 mark. In trafiic, one bar about 1/2. And at the drag strip the same, one bar about 1/2.
I know some guys have tried water wetter, but isn't there some stuff by Royal Purple, some sort of radiator fluid?? Thought I saw something at the m/c shop the other day, looked like anit-freeze, but was designed to make your bike run cooler.
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is No difference piped and dyno's with powercommander and muzzy fan.

I just got back from a 300-mile trip and I have to say that she is a little hotter than she was a week ago, however no-where near the Hot she was when new. Now this could be the Oil, I mentioned a while back that although I don't worry about the lubrication aspects of synthetic oil the contaminates I do believe will add heat to the oil thus engine heat. As of right now I have 4,700 miles on this oil so it's well past mid life.
I will change out the oil before my next trip maybe a week before to verify my thinking. Just a note I will carry new spark plugs with me but God willing these spark Plugs will see 11-13,000+ miles.
