So, at what mileage did you first oil the stock chain?
So, at what mileage did you first oil the stock chain? And, what lube did you use?

1000 miles and haven't touched it. But it's already off the bike, replaced with a non o-ring chain as I stretched the bike out, and needed a longer chain.

I waited until most of that factory "goo" had slung itself onto my rear wheel, washed the bike up good, wiped the chain down with WD-40 to remove the remainder of the "goo", then I lubed the chain. I probably did that at around 500 miles.
I use Chain Wax, original forumula (or whatever they call it). I tried PJ1 black on my last bike, but I got tired of scraping that crap off of my wheel, swingarm, and countershaft sprocket every time I cleaned the bike. That PJ1 stuff is absolutely worthless!

500 Miles. Clean with WD and a rag and apply PJ1 Blue, simply the best chain lube I've ever used hands down. MCN did a test with the top chain lubes and PJ1 Blue won every single catagory, lubrication,adhesion,sling off, etc, etc. Try the Blue. Clean chain with WD on center stand or pit bull, start bike put in first ,spay on PJ1 one side then the other. Let sit for 10 minutes and I have very little sling off. Like I say the best I've ever used and MCnews said the same thing. The Blue, not the Black.

According to PJ, black is their "best"... I wonder why it sucks?
I may try the blue, you're not the only person who I've heard that likes it. Does that spray white like Bel-Ray? I can't stand white chain lube...

I used the PJ1 Blue on my GPZ, 22,000 miles on it when I sold it this spring still stock chain and sprockets with alot of life left.

Skip the "chain lube".
Clean it and lube it with WD-40.
Trust me on this.

Blitzkrieg, so far it's been 100% WD-40 and there is 2 interesting notes
1. It's a breeze to clean the dirt around the rear tire.
2. I swear with 6,133 miles I've adjusted the chain none. Puss riding or not, That's Impressive
As far as I can tell No fatigue to O-Rings. Yes I check nerd-boy

No ZerMATT it does not spray white. You can't even tell it's on there, if done properly.

Lubed at 1000mi, and 2000mi.
I still afraid of WD40. Sounds great and CLEAN. I've seen other people swear by it also.
I saw the post here to have the chain, too tite from factory, adjusted at delivery by my dealer. Thanks again guys.
3000 miles:STILL NO ADJUSTMENT NEEDED. What is with these chains. I love it.
I done a dozen practice starts, and 3-4 175+ runs.
I use factory spec 80-140 gear lube FOR 20 YEARS+. Messy as hell. Always works great. But never this good.

I cleaned off all that factory grease and spayed my chain with the lubricating wax on a hot chain at 200 miles. Repeated every 100 kms or so. Got 30,000 miles out of original ZX12 chain this way.

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

I cleaned it with kerosene (paraffin) at about 250 miles, got all the old grease off and re-lubed it with Silkolene Chain Gel between the plates and on the rollers.
Even though there was plenty of the original lubricant left on the chain it turns into a grinding paste when it picks up road dirt and dust, so I clean it off and re-lube frequently. The Silkolene is white and it's easy to see when it gets cruddy.

1000 miles. I had enough factory goo to last. They chain was every ride. Ride is about 200 to 500 miles per. I should clean the old stuff off after looking at this thread. thansk.
