Here's Help With The Fairings
OK I have taken this thing apart probably more then I should have lol.
The deal with the lower cowling is this. First take out the screws of the
unpainted lower cowling then it will seemed to still be locked but its
not. Just simply pull the lower toward you and up as if you were swinging
a gate open towards you and up it will quickly release. The next step is
to take off the plastic piece over the ram air ducts. You must do this first
in order to take off the fake tank 3 screws. Now take it off. Then take
off the finned pieces next. And that will allow you to take off the side panels.
Watch out when you take off the side panels as several pieces of foam
are bound to fall off. If you look close you will see where they go or just
pop out your manual and look at the exploded view. They are a little
annoying to see exactly where they go. But if you take you time and look
you will see them near the back of the manual. I think that is pretty straight
foward. If you want to take a look at what is going on then you can pop off
the grills first it makes no real difference if you follow the above directions.
But they don't have to come off first but it gives you a peak inside. Hope this
helps the guy who posted his problem with this issue. Any questions and I
will do my best to help. It took a little while for me to get it all apart especially
the lower cowling but when you do it as explained above you will be quite
surprised how easy it really is. Oh and when you are going to take of the lower
so that you can take one side panel don't forget to pop off that plastic lock that
holds the two lowers together in the front of the bike. You stick a small driver
or allen wrench into the middle of the hole and pop it in this will release that
plastic plug. Good luck..........................

Oh and when taking off the side panels. I forgot to mention that there are
two of those plastic lock clips under your head light. These also are pushed
in the middle with a small allen wrench or screw driver and they will pop out.
As well you have two allen screws next to your front tire on the inside.
VERY IMPORTANT Both the fake tank ( piece on the front of your tank) and
the grills also have those plastic plugs that pop into rubber gromets. I think
most will understand this. So when you take the grills out if you have'nt
taken the fake tank piece off then you need to as the grill piece is alos connected
by one of the screws that hold the fake tank on. There is a small tab from the grill
piece that is bolted down with your fake tank side screws. Now when you get those
screws out you have to take the fake tank and the grills off carefully. Feel undernieth
with your fingers and find the pop out groments and gently pop them out. For example
after you take out all three screws to release the fins you must pull the bottom of
the fins toward you untill they pop out from the rubber groments. Sorry about spelling
ect. I am in a rush but wanted help this one guy out GOOD LUCK...............

Thanks, it was me that posted. I gave up. I have a friend that does this stuff all the time. Gonna let him work on it, I just don't have the time, expertise, or patience.

No problem I actually had my friend who is an expert racer do my pipe and
PCIII probably saved me a good $600 if I asked a dealer to do it which I would
never do anyway. Good luck with the job........................

Below is the whole installation guide incuding the lower plastic removal. Anyone can follow these well set up directions. These were posted a month ago or so. He spent so much time on them I wanted to make sure instead of people writing them over and over thet people ahve access to these. Thanks again RAPTOR!!!

A while back I mentioned I'd write up the installation method I used to for Brock's Gen 3 StreetSmart exhaust system and a Power Commander. Since it's raining here in CT I finally got around to it. I don't know how this is going to work, but I've place an Adobe PDF file at the following location. If all goes well, then you can download directly. I used his directions last night and sent him a thank you PM. Every detail was incredible. Even the PC install was explained step-by-step.
The directions that came from Brock's were vague, other than putting the system together (not even on the bike) and the tip to use the copper gasket stuff.

I sent the editable files to Brock and told him he could use them as he sees fit. Don't know what he plans to do or not do with them. It's up to him. Glad the instructions were of value.

The fairing trick and help was right on - it worked perfectly today. Thanks. I was doing my 600 mile service and wanted to check out everything.
