Zx-14's Sold Out

Can anthing else go wrong? I went in to my dealer to pull the plate frame, heli risers, and spools off of my bike. I figured that I should get a new one ordered. The sales manager said uh... It will have to be an 2007. Kawi is not shipping or producing any more 2006. WTF? Who planned that production run? They are searching other dealers but they said that if they did find one, the other dealer would want top dollar plus freight. So basically unless something happens I'm S.O.L.
I called the Kawi rep to see if he could help.

I'd heard the rumour that KHI was planning a run of 1500 bikes only for '06.

If you want me to get you the number to a dealer out here I will. It's around $500 to ship a bike from Chicago to almost anywhere in the U.S. You should do that instead of trying to get your dealer to take one from somewhere else, you'll get hit with so many fees from the other dealers that don't want to give up their bikes.

I am in Minneapolis MN.
If anyone has info PM me. I have a limited amount of funds so I can't pay much more than I did the first time. About 11,500 out the door. I would probably be able to travel to Chicago and pick it up. NYC is a little far but not out of the question. I just want my bike back! It would suck to have to wait until next spring. I can't ride until my bones heal so the soonest I could ride would be in a month.

Just got an Email that some dealers were not foresighted enough and only ordered a couple of 14's and they won't be gettting anymore. The dealers that put in large orders will get all their bikes. So find another dealer in your area. Plent y of 14's around San Antonio.

My dealer ordered 16 of them so I don't think foresight was the problem. Many are asking over retail. Also a problem.

Clearly FTS would not have a problem finding a 14 if price or geography was not a concern. Finding one within a reasonable distance of Minneapolis AND at 11,500 OTD (Minnesota taxes and fees) could be a challenge. Chicago would not be too far of a ride....

BTW, where in Minnesota do you live FTS? I'm originally from Minnetonka

I'm in NordEast Minneapolis.

I appreciate the assistance. I need dealer names however. Saying there is a bike in NY does me no good. I would be able to go to Chicago without too much fuss. After the acccident and missing work funds are tight. The insurance will cover a new one barely if I can get the same price. I know it's a tough request with bike being in limited supply. I'm stubborn too. It has to be a Blue one. Man I loved that bike!
Send me a PM with info.
I have a call into my regional Kawi rep and told him the sorry tale on his answering machine. I'll know more next week.

I'll be calling around for you on Monday morning, too late now and the dealers are closed. It might be a bit hard to get an OTD price over the phone, but I've bought 2 kawis from this dealer so they should be good to me.

I forgot to mention that they are open on Sundays until noonish. (I have only bought one bike from them but they were very good to deal with. ) I am not sure if this is the same dealership that jimzx9r is talking about??!! There is also Don and Roy's which is in Milwaukee, Wi. and they are easy to find. I have no idea what prices they will have but they are on the internet... Hope that this all helps.... Sorry to hear about your misfortune!!

Even if Toronto was close to Minneapolis (which it is not), importing a bike to the US would probably be cost prohibitive.

Yes. The cost and hassle of importing is out of the question.

+1
I've done this and I dropped 750 dollars in fees on a 781cc bike. Also Keep in mind although you will be able to read the Miles, the speedo will be majors KM's and Minor Miles....maybe
