took out my zx14 secondary valve out finally i got a little break from work and got the oil change done on my zx14 and took out those valves too.
talking about this bike waking up on low rpm since weather was kind of ugly in houston yesterday, didn't get a lot of run on the bike but i pushed it hard couple of times in different gears and i tell you this thing is a monster now at low rpm.
i have muzzy system on it. it seems like got a little louder. sounds sweet!!
no hesitation at all in any gear or throttle. idle is good.
i don't think those valves ever go back on the bike!!!!
i just want to thank the folks in this forum to help make this happen for me. special thanks to gtracing since he initiated this.
i can't wat till i kick some ass with this bike.:d

Do you have a Power Commander/Map?
Thanks!
no, i got muzzy carbon fiber slip on.
Get one ASAP Have it mapped ASAP The reports have been that it goes way lean at 3500.
A good A/F ratio is 14/1 thru 15/1. I have seen reports of 17/1 without mapping. This is good
for making holes where your pistons now live.

I highly doubt you would need a map with slip-on system? Maybe if the throttle plates removal leans you out too much ( guess). I thought that 12.5 to 1 is a pretty good AFR? My Mitsubishi Evo turbo is tuned pretty conservatively at 12.2 to 1. Isn''t the 14 a bit rich from the factory? I don't know what is a good AFR for a bike.

i had 02 zx12 with full muzzy no pc, i had 10000 miles on it ride the shit of it. did not have any problem with it, my friend bought it from me put another 5000 miles on it he rode it hard, never had a hole in piston. i guess you take a chance anytime you modify the bike.

Thanks FBA, now to get it tuned.. All the talk about running lean is keeping her in the garage for the moment. have ant pics of the polished Ti on the 10r?

I removed my plates today, and took a little different approach to the whole "lean" issue.
I have a lot of experience in the automotive world of tuning, especialy concerning forced induction, but not a lot of FI bike tuning experience, so I leaned a little on Metric Cycles and Park 10 CBR Performance. Modern sportbikes have a secondary air system on them for air-exhaust gas injecton, which is supposed to lower NO polution and burn off extra HC's in the stream. In order to run a accurate AFR test, this system should be disabled. I do not believe that Ivan or Brock thought to disable this system, however today we did. We also set up to measure EGT's before and after the butterfly valves were removed.
2500-6000 RPM roll on, outside temp = 98F, bike coolant = 198F
With valves = 1380F AFR = 13.1
Without = 1378F AFR = 13.2
Crusing, 3.2K in 6th (dyno loaded to simulate 70mph)
With valves = 1402F AFR = 15.8
Without = 1406F AFR = 15.8
Tip in at 3.2K showed an immediate surge in fuel to 12.8 then smoothed back out again, Seems typical of a modern FI "run-lean" cruising habits of an automotive engine application with cats.
So, what's the issue? No idea. All I can tell you is the HP and TQ increased about 10 HP and 22 FT pounds with the plates removed, but the AFR's at WOT seemed the same in both cases.
Volumetrics of the engine won't change with the plates removed. There is still the same amount of backpressure from the exhaust and airflow from the inlet as before, provided that you don't change anything from stock. We found no signs of detonation. Keep in mind that we were using 93 octane fuel, which in itself is a nice safeguard on an engine tuned for 90-89 octane. "

Think I'll wait for Brock or somebody of his ability to get one on the dyno sans subthrottles and get some accurate A/F measurements. Rumours and A/F numbers are flying all over the place depending on who you listen to. I think somebody is putting a 14 on the dyno down in Houston this weekend, maybe we shall have some reliable numbers by Monday.

I plan on having Dyno results by next weekend. I will do a run w/o plates before tuning , I'll then tune w/ PCIIIusb & you guys will see the results. I will offer the PC for sale with this map installed. Stay Tuned!

Honda of Houston's DynoJet is still broken... Metric Motorcycles has a FactoryPro Eddy, but they want stupid coin for a single pull - $100. I ran mine originaly on a Mustang at PSI Motorsports. I think GTRACING is taking his to Mr. Turbo on Monday, so let's wait and see.
