Pulled the plates and runs like shit now

Alright I got the Hindle full system CF can and power commander with Brocks latest map. Took the secondaries out because several of you said the bike runs great with out a map.. Wrong mine runs like pure shit! And I can tell that it is way to lean in places and to rich in others.. Why is everyone saving it runs better?? I need a map or I"m putting them back in... Map anyone???

You can always put them back in. I'm heading to a DynoJet this Sat, should give some different results from the Mustang dyno I used last week. My plates are removed, and I'll post the full sheet with the EGA curve.

Fellas wasn't born yesterday.. The map is so bad that I really don't even know where to start to get it right.. Brock said he will have a map but it will proalby be awhile. I will try to use the schnitz map but I don't think it will be much better.. I've gotten pretty good with mapping by the ass theory over the years but I need a baseline map and I'm so far off with brocks map.

removing the plates affects the a/f ratio above 6 k negligably, but there is a definite lean out of all throttle settings below that rpm. i have seen a/f ratios pegged at the 18-1 limit with plates removed on stockers! with my hi-flo air filter it is even worse, and a pipe just continues the lean-out. with a/f ratios that lean, driveability is severely compromised. we have also found that the 14 is a typical mass-produced jap bike, with HP figures on stockers varying widely. so far we have seen 8 hp variation. heck, the zx -12 has the worse record for consistency on my dyno, with a variation of 15!!! hp. 143 was the lowest with 158 the best.i have seen most typical jap models with at least a 8 hp variation, but with the majority of skoots clustered around a 2-3 HP "average" area. another thing i have found is that each bike will respond completely different to the same mods done to other skoots.not all bikes will gain the same HP and tork with a certain pipe/filter ,etc.i have lost a few customers to other shops that have happier??!! dynos. one can't and shouldn't be too concerned with HP figures from dynos that u skoot has never been on. as said in previous posts there are just too much variations in dyno numbers.

At this point, would it be safe to say that since I've installed cans and probably already leaned my bike out a bit from that change, that I should not remove the plates until I go the PC route?

I'd wait until we learn how to reprogram the factory ECU.

first version done and tested, gains above 6k...i will start 2nd version ??? this r&d is cutting into my ridin time!! the zx-14 filter is on the small side of what it should be,so it'll be worth the purchase of a bmc when they come out with one. my goal is not to market a filter, but to do the r&d and learn about this 14.
