When I moved my TPS all the way forward it would set a code on my bike right away, when I called Ivan and said something he acted like something was wrong with my bike was short and not much help. lessen learned.. As soon as I would put the TPS back and erase the code it would stay gone. TRE

one point I'd like to make. If I had any sort of experience with anything at all, as TJ suggests would be a benefit, then you can sure as bet that you wouldn't be able to trust any reviews. It's because of the "industry" (read: print mags) and it's lack of impartiality that the Internet and sites like this have flourished.
Never trust "the man"!!!

I'm not sure the magazines are in any real danger of losing their audiences. Sport Rider sells an average of 82,595 copies each month and Motorcyclist averages 236,386 copies each month. Cycle World averages 330,140 copies per month. I realize these are just three examples but circulation (and the associated revenue) for these magazines has not been hurting over the years.

This is ironic I was just at a bike meet and this guy Ivan's name came up.
I was told that he is a very good tuner by several people. But each and
every person that told me that also said but he's an asshole lmao. They
said he is a crazy polish guy lol. Some freak gave me his card lol. So
after hearing all that I would'nt go to him even though they said he was
a pretty good tuner. By the way the different people that told me about
him were not together they were all different people not together. I was
there with my 14. and got this guys card. Don't even ask about the guy
that gave me the card lmao a freak. So here is his card and info if he asked
for it well then here it is Rockland County Motorcycles Service 175 N. Route
9W Congers, New York 10902 (845) 268-1212 Ivan Rovinsky his site is
www.ivansperformanceproducts.com When I mentioned his name to my
tuner he just looked at me with this look lmao. He did say he is pretty good
when he's in a good mood lol. I can't even say that he would take his time to
type that post but anyway call him lmao.............................

I met Ivan back in 2000 at a super sunday event at marcus dairy in danbury CT. about the same time I met Crotch rocket and a few other members here. I was talking to charlie a freind of Ivans and we were chit chatting about the "new" 12r and we got on the discussion of how much power the 12r makes. When I told charlie him that my 12r makes 171 hp with the stock exhaust on it he told me up and down that there was no fucking way I was getting 170+ from my 12r. Ivan comes walking over and charlie starts to tell him about my claims of 170+ hp and ivan laughed and said no fucking way. So, ...... there was a 12r with a muzzy system on the dyno right in front of us and it made 167 hp. 20 minutes later I rolled mine on the dyno with the stock exhasut system and all, and made 172 hp. They about shit. Ivan started to tell me that this dyno wasnt accurate and it was a piece of shit DJ150 and his (Ivans) dyno wouldnt read the 172 that this one read and that he had never gotten a stock 12r to read that.
I asked them to forget about the actual numbers then and tell me why I just made 4 hp more than a bike with a muzzy pipe and K&N filters. He just said again, the dyno is a piece of shit and I told them that the bike made that on 2 other dj150's and that the bike had not one part on it that didnt come from the factory except one small socket head cap screw.
They were totally un willing to accept what they had seen that day.
I told them I had talked to yoshimura and was waiting for a pipe from them, they wernt out with it yet, and thats why i still had the factory exhaust on it. We chatted about pipe designs for a while and I came to the conclusion that Ivan had no interest in listening to what anyone else had to say on a given topic about motorcycle tuning and bikes in general. So I listened to him for a while and took it all in. Asked a few questions and got his point of view on several engine aspects. I may not have agreed with everything he said but much of it I did.
One particular topic I didnt agree with him on was 4-1 and 4-2-1 systems for bikes. He believed at least at that time that a 4-1 system (what akrapovics first pipe for the 12r was) was the best system for a street bike.
I disagreed and pointed out the poor low end and midrange torque from a 4-1 system and that on street bikes 4-2-1 is much smoother and would be within a couple of HP at peak HP.
Anyway, that was about 6 years ago before the TRE was mass produced. I believe he was making the early ones himself. and they absolutely did work on the 99 and 2000 busas.
As far as any other bike bennifiting from tricking the gear indicator to the computer, thats debateable. But at least the early Busas responded well to the trick. Even before Ivan was selling them, guys at the track were tricking the busa ecu's.
I havent seen or talked to Ivan sence then. I dont go to the dairy much anymore sence it turned into a mostly Harley event selling cheep chineese made HD costume leather gloves and cheep chrome HD crap.

Where is the gear selector wiring harness located? I have plenty of resistors and multimeters, I think I will just monitor the resistance on the 14 for each gear and make a variable box that emulates each gear with an on/off so I can try different things. Would cost less than $20 for a completely tunable/switchable TRE.
After following this, and his responses on zx-12.org, I don't want to do business with this guy. Heck, my www.invisicord.com site is purely word of mouth business, no advertisiing dollars needed just because I treat each and every customer with courtesy. I even go out of the way to help those that want to make their own power cords. If I acted like Ivan, my business would eventually dry up. Ivan sounds like too egotistical for my business, regardless of whether his product works or not.

TRE + Busa starter = bad news.
Surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
I've been told many times over that Ivan's Yamaha products (mostly carbed) work very well.
I do find Fish's calculations interesting though - Ivan must be a millionaire now and just doesn't care if anyone buys his products. That's bout the only reason I can figure he made the comments he did to a board of approximately 6,000 members (plus the members of that site and wherever that links too as well).
I'm thinkin the self appointed Beast Tamer will soon be understanding the phrase "Sometimes you eat the Bear and sometimes the Bear eats you." phrase for some time to come.
quote:It's sad how people get when their business is not as fruitful as once was...
It's real hard nowadays to keep making $$$ in a small business!!!
Someone on the other site mentioned that Ivan was a millionaire many times over...so if that's the case, his business must still be quite fruitful...not that any of this is relevant but...
