ignition issues?

Has anyone had any issues with their ignition. I had a hell of a time getting the key to move from the fork LOCK position. This was not the first time.....and it seems like moving the key in any direction is catchy at best. Has anyone else had any problems with theirs?

I haven't had problems once the key is in the ignition, but getting it in the ignition has been difficult at times. It just doesn't want to go in. First time I had the problem I actually thought the key could only go in one way and that I had it backwards.

I find it easy to bend the rather soft key ever so slightly when opening the fuel cap

Im find wiggling the bars helps get it into/ out of steering lock.
The pin is binding for the fork lock because there is strain on it tryng to move.

For the fork lock just wiggle the bars slightly!

Iv you tilt your key slightly to the right of the bike you can push the spring loaded "key hole cover" out of the way then the key goes right in!! Works great for me give it a try

My 10r and 14 are the same...key has to be inserted delicately, and steering nudged to lock and unlock...no big deal for me though.

MRZ1, try some of that lock grease compound they sell....(NOT WD40 though). Should help you....if not sell the bike...:P

I tried lockease that I've used for years. It' like a graphite liquid. It didn't help. It's almost like the key wasn't cut correctly. I've raced Z1's and still have alot of them. At 55 I still like speed and fast bikes. I'll just have to live with it as it is a minor nuisance I can live with so I don't think I'll be selling it. I LOVE this bike. Check out my website at http://www.wesnet.com/race/sudman_racing/index.htm You'll see I've had some nice bikes but this one is great!

I had some luck with a good locksmith.
Sometimes a nip here a tuck there.
Worth a try maybe? Five minutes.
Is it the same in your helmet lock? If it is maybe a grind on the key will help.

The seat latch feels decent putting it in and taking it out with no problem. It just feels like there is alot more spring side pressure on it than what needs to be in the ignition lock itself.

I tried the suggestion from kawiguy3. Ended my problem. Haven't had any more difficulty getting the key inserted. Thanks.
