Crashed...............................mountain bike I was out Saturday Morning with my neighbour doing some trails in our river valley when on a fast down hill part, my front wheel caught the edge of a rut..................and down I went.
My right hand got the worst of it. I had biking gloves on, but I smacked it into a small tree when I went down. I'm getting it x-rayed this morning as it is still very swollen. It really bums me out as there is no way I can ride with my hand in it's current condition. Hurts like hell and no strength at all in it.
Got to get rid of the mountain bike................those things are just too dangerous!

Glad to see you're not hurt seriously ZR...hope nothing's more than just some swelling ..I wiped on the Busa last year and sprained my ankle on the way to the track...I rode, but it took me 8 months to fully recover from the sprain...let's hope your's takes much less... ____________

Well I have 2 small breaks in bones in the thumb area! Have a splint on now, cast goes on as soon as the swelling goes down. Cast will be on a month, so I guess the '14 will be parked for awhile.
How depressed am I? Just mad at myself for charging way to fast on a narrow tree lined trail.............it could of been worse as I am sure I was going 20 to 30 miles an hour down hill when I dumped it.

It doesn't have to sit. I'll leave my 10 there for you and ride the 14.

Sure, cheering section of 1! I'll be the guy in the cast with the sour looking expression on his face! I have lots of time on my hands (pardon then pun) now. Just won't be able to clap, but I can still cheer!

Jacket and Pants are Joe Rocket 'Blaster'. For cheaper leathers I have no complaints. Have not tested them by sliding down the street........................yet! Blaster jacket has been changed some what since I bought mine.

Sorry about the wait you'll have, I understand. Was t-boned by a full size chevy p/u about a month ago on the way to the drags fri. night. Somehow I wasn't seriously injured but my bike ZX-9 was totaled.I guess you could call that bad luck but now I have the ZX SLED and am very happy to say the least. Be careful and you'll recover quickly so you can ride the MAD KAW sooner.Sorry about yabbering on but I'm new to this whole forum thing and don't know if I'm welcom here, good luck ZREXER.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum FTS, I appreciate it alot and I'm glad to find more KAW fans out there. I'm the only Kawasaki (died in the wool true blue thru and thru) fan among my peers. Not that other brands are bad but I always go for the underdog among my circle of friends. I too have a Blue 14, one of the first in Mesa, AZ. I'll ride for both of you.

I was back at my doctor today. He had forwarded the x-ray of my hand to a specialist. Turns out I won't need a cast, just the velcro, metal reinforced brace will do. What I broke was the metacarpal bone in the finger next to the thumb - bone labled "10". Originally they thought the bone next to it was cracked, but they said it was a previously healed break. There is no displacement of the bone, so they didn't feel I needed to have a cast.
I might ride my SV 650 Naked by this weekend as the standard bars put much less weight on my wrists than is the case with the '14. I want to make sure I have enough strength back in the hand before I try it. I'll have to wear the brace for sure for the next three to 4 weeks. In addition to the break, my hand was heavily bruised....................hand was damn near numb for three days.
