Anyone have brake problems?

ZX14 folk,

I have a black ZX-14 have almost 800miles. Within the first say 150miles I have this brake squeeking sound at low speeds to a stop. (5mph-0mph) It was very uncool, your driving the best fastest bike, and people are checking you out, you come light and it sounds like your driving your grandmothers car.

I took it to the dealer twice. First time they cleaned the rotors with some break cleaner. That worked for about 15 minutes. Second time they sanded the rotors and the pads. This worked for about 15 miles. and back again.

Also under hard braking she slows down, but then has a bad ocilating vibration coming from the rotors.

I called to go in again for Monday, but I was wondering anybody else have this problem. Some people said it is the new wave rotors or the individual pads for each caliber. But all I know it is a little unnerving. Some say it take some time to "wear" them in. I had a brand new ZX-12R 2004 and never made the slightest noise and those brake pads were still good at 11,000miles when I traded it in for the ZX-14.

ANY SUGESTIONS?

Sincerely

James Novey

Wife and I both think our 14's are the best bikes we have ever owned. Brakes are quiet and stout.

Yes, Mine are squeaky too. I also drive through the local hangout often and hate when the brakes are making noise! I also think I have a noise (squeak) in the front bearings. I want to check it out !

The vibration you guys speak of sound to me like a warped rotor,,,I had that on my 10R (same type of rotors) and they were changed under warranty, now fine.

Have to agree, I only had a squeek twice in a row a couple days ago, most likely dust in the pad... but it went away.
The other issues, sounds like some contaminant got on your rotor, you heated it up and now have a hot spot that only rears up when you heat them up....
TELL your dealer it is a "safety issue" then they have to change them out.
Good luck, and not to sound repetitive, but this thing has the best front brakes I have ever had.

I got 1050 miles no noise no vibration or pulsing, I thought the brakes on my 12 were great but these are as good or better than the over size rotors and six pots I had on the race bike (picture)

2,600 miles. No noises, no squeaks, no brake problems at all. The only thing that I ever year from the brakes is the occasional click/clunk after backing up when the pads re-locate themselves in the calipers.

2500 miles.
My brakes are very scary. Stop way too quickly. Too sensitive.
Scariest brakes ever on a bike.
Someone has to call the Factory and thank them for this dreadful error.
I'm sure with enough complaints they will fix it soon, and hopefully repair the too much horsepower problem at the same time.
LOL
