Why install a manual fan switch.. Just wire a jumper and extra fan on the other side so the fans will all come on at the same time.

Looked at that but no lower bracket provision for second fan

How come you can sit in your car at the longest light with the A/C on and your temp gauge won't even move?

[/quote

If my car made the same hp per liter as the ZX14 it would make 828hp. I think you might have to watch it in a car like that. I've got 1200 miles on my ZX14 and have been caught in two traffic jams and no problem, except a little sweat under the helmet which cleared up when I got movin.

Liquid cooling on bikes was / is more for emission controls than absolute engine cooling.

One of the upgrades that you used to get in old cars with the super-hi-po engines was the 'heavy duty' cooling. Bigger radiator, etc.

I guess if we demanded sport bikes for parade duties, we'd be adding a few extra pounds in the cooling systems?

Rode my bike for a 250mi ride yesterday. Temps started out in the low 70's and peaked at 99-100F. The bike did great. Even when it was 98-99F, I was running right at the mid-mark as long as I kept my speed up over 70-80mph. One bar above mid would come on as we rode through small towns and stopped for a few lights, or stopped for a break, but that bar would go away after 5 minutes of 80+ mph. Never saw the 2nd bar above mid while riding or stopped for a break.

2,600 miles now, factory coolant/water mix. There is a light at the end of the tunnel... and it's not a train

Cars can fit unlimited (almost) radiators, and cooling fans as apposed to a bike comitted to stay light. This is why the split lanes law wont change in Ca. In Florida (less traffic) they wont allow lane splitting, but in Destin Florida when the sping season hits, they allow it due to traffic jams and overheating issues.

I wish they'd let us split lanes in TX. A new lane splitting law was proposed last year and many thought that it had passed, but it didn't. We'll wait another few months to see if they bring it up again...

Yes, it is, but I don't think we'll get that much leeway here if the law ever does pass.

Our law makers wrote it something like this for their "lane splitting" proposed law: Motorcycles will be allowed to ride between cars while traveling on multi-lane highways ONLY when normal traffic flow slows to speeds below 20 MPH, and even then, the motorcycle can only travel at speeds up to 5 MPH above the speed of surrounding automobiles.

It would be a start at least...

My SRT8 was paid, but I did not have any of the mods covered. I lost almost 9000 dollars. tears are gone, looking forward to my new scooter, going to take it to Baja for a road trip.

Mods typically aren't covered unless specifically listed on the policy, or if a seperate "rider" policy is taken out that covers the extras.

The CA lane splitting law has nothing to do with overheating. The law was created to allow CHP officers to navigate traffic without using emergency lights.

Why do police officers need a law to split lanes? Law enforcement is exempt from traffic rules. That's what the "E" on their plate means. Nowadays it just says "exempt". Never seen a CHP write himself a ticket.

LE is not excepted from any traffic laws, unless they are operating as an "emergency vehicle" (In most states, that is. Not positive about CA...). Even as an emergency vehicle, they must show "due regard" for safety.

They may not write themselves a ticket, but they're subject to complaints, internal disciplinary action, and, of course, the ever-present liabilty concerns.

Genius retort. Would you like to make a specific ref. to back your claim, or do you just like to run off at the mouth? I'll presume the latter...

Having said that, I didn't say it always works out that way. They get advantages, no doubt, in practice. Nevertheless, they run the risk, as little, or as much, as it may be. The world is not perfect, my son. Just check out the mirror.

cls you are right, on CHP COPS FIRE any emergency vehicles must follow CAL DMV or city codes if, it is not Illegal for you to do it it is not legal for them to do it. exception running hot pursuit but they are at fault if a accident occurs.

I know I'm right in GA. I presume it's so in CA. Only makes sense...The keys are "emergency vehicle" and "due regard." Again, in GA (And most/many states.), that means visual and audible emergency equipment activated, and you still have to proceed in a safe manner.

Now if that has anything to do w/the CA law, ref. lane-splitting, I have no idea...

It would be much better if you could get an exact digital reading instead of bars..Unless you can find out what the temp range for each bar is...
