First trip to the 1/4 on my zx14 ...DAMN !!!!
A friend called me and asked if i was going to the track and i said sure if you are going i'll come ...I really didn't want to take my zx14 because i was worried that i would run mid 10 second times ... There is allways lots of Hayabusas at this track and if the zx14 ran mid tens it would be a black day for us zx14 owners , plus give the Busa guys a reason to talk more smack about the zx14 ..
I got there about 7:00 and it was F......ing hot (85 deg) with 80% humidty , not the best air to run good numbers ...So let me give you the detail on my zx14..
Stock wheel base
Muzzy pipe with NO P/C
lowered 1 1/2 in the rear
strapped in the front but not pulled down very tight.
Pump gas 93 octane
41 psi in tires
Everything else stone stock ..
First pass
60 foot 1.72
330 4.356
1/8 6.46 @116.64
1000 feet 8.28
1/4 mile 9.82 @ 145.37
Second pass
60 1.64
330 4.29
1/8 6.42 @114.69
1000 ft 8.23
1/4 9.77 @145.44
Third pass
60 1.66
330 4.25
1/8 6.35 @117.44
1000 ft 8.173
1/4 9.70 @ 146.27
Fourth and last pass
60 1.58
330 4.21
1/8 6.30 @117.89
1000 ft 8.12
1/4 9.65 @145.79
So there you have it , first time to the 1/4 with an avg joe doing the driving... Once i get some more seat time i feel 9.50s or 9.40s will be no problem ..I had a blast killing Busas and Gixxers and now the other guys know the zx14 is no joke ...They all made remarks about the zx14 , most said that thing is sick fast and looks much cooler than the pictures ....
I was more than happy to go 9s the first time out and to run a 9.65 was just made my day !!!!

Thanks for the info.

I'm a light weight , 145 to 150 and add 10 to 15 pounds for the leathers and boots....
I stopped riding bikes in 85 and just got back in into bikes last year .. I have been (testing and tuning) my 2005 ZRX1200 ..It a Std bore motor with zzr1200 cams , jet kit , pipe and air shifter..The bike is 61 inch wheel base, the bike and me together weight in at 655 pounds..It has run the best of a 9.57@137.99....I don't like bracket racing so i just go to test and tune nights and see how fast i can go..
The zx14 has the power to go faster but the rider (me) needs more seat time , the zx14 is so different than my zrx it will take some time to get the hang of it ...The stock wheel base of the zx14 make it a handfull for me to ride....

I have trying to shift right before red line , around 10700 to 10900 .... I have not tried to speed shift it yet ..By that i mean clutchless shifting....

41 PSI? That must be an amazingly sticky track....
1.58 60 footers also implies you are WAY better than the average rider.
Congrats though...

Well as you can see i only did that 1.58 one time and getting that again is going to take some more seat time ...Hell it took me 250+ runs to get 1.40s on my 6 inch over bike ....Stock wheel base is a bitch as you know ... There was another zx14 there with a pro rider and he was knocking off 1.48 60 footers and ran 9.30s @145 ..Now i call that good !!!!
The track is one of the best hooking tracks in the USA ... After every round the clean they track and about every third run they put down VHT ....
I say i'm an AVG rider because i have never won a race for money or even entered a race for money on a motorcycle...I have not raced a bike since 1985 on my Vmax .. Fact i didn't own a bike for 20 years 1985 to 2005...For 20 years i have been racing SS/A & SS/B cars...I got back into bikes and i just love it!!! I have no clue why i ever stopped riding bikes for 20 years... 30+ years ago i did street race bikes alot but never went to the track back then.. You get the picture? i'm 50 years old and i guess i'm still nuts ...lol....

I think you will have no problems going that fast ..The zx14 makes up a lot of bad 60 footers and 330 times with its top end pull, so you can have some weak 60 footers and 330s and still run a good number.. Case in point if you read Brocks how to go nines on a Busa he will tell you to get your 330 times under 4.00 and you will run high 9s ... As you can see i was not close to high 3s at the 330 mark ...If you look at my 1/8 mile numbers you will see that they are not that great for the 1/4 mile times the bike ran ....One my other bike i have to run low 6s ( 6.05 to 6.10) in the 1/8 mile to get mid 9s like the zx14.. There where 6 or so Busas there running better 60 footers than me but where only running 10.20s to 10.70s @ 134 to 136 mph... , so go have some fun.....

smokinzx14, found one of my time slips from my busa, goes as follows
60ft 1.659
330ft- 4.321
1/8ET 6.478
MPH 113.94
1000ft- 8.355
1/4ET 9.958
1/4MPH 140.50
Bone stock 234 miles on it and I was 212 unsuited. So I don't think you need to go anywhere close to 4.00 in the 330ft to get high nines. With my brock pipe and map I went 9.60's So my times are pretty close to yours but the 14 has mor top end, like you said, can't wait till I get an open friday night to go to a test and tune at my track! Think I can run 9.70s at my weight, still around 210 unsuited.
