Front lowering

Hey guys My pipe and pcIII will be her tomorrow via UPS, so now it is time to turn some wrenches. I currently have lowering links and the brock front bracket and lowering front strap. My question is that i know i can slide the tubes through a little. I want a nice low ride for everyday riding without strapping for the front and rear. i plan on using the strap pulled down only on drags days. Hows much do you recommend that i slide the tubes through. I will be using the middle hole on the lowring links and a suggested amount of tube slide through for the front. I will used the slammed and strapped pulled down only for race days. Dont want to keep the compressed for evryday riding. I think the average in about 1.5 inches on the 12 but i know the 14 is a little lower than my 12 is
Thanks

this question is asked so frequently... funny that Muzzys still doesnt provide any accurate info on how far to move the tubes to retain the correct geometery ... Last time I called they gave me a BS answer of "about an inch" etc..

Thank God we have some smart people around here... because here is the CORRECT answer: (courtesy "Sagot" )

Purchase a "bubble protractor". In stock form, place your bike on a perfectly level surface. Have a friend hold the bike in place (level) and put the bubble protractor on either the head stock or one of the fork legs (ensuring they are lined up perfectly, front wheel not turned) Determine the actual angle (the rake) of the forks.

Lower your bike using the lowering links. Repeat the above procedure and lower the fork tubes the appropriate amount to achieve the original rake figure.

Or lower it "about an inch"...

hey... wouldnt it be great if Muzzys gave out that measurement with each set of links in the instructions? Would sure save a lot of work...

"about an inch" .. .. this topic reminds me of just how pissed off I was when the guy on the phone told me that.
