Didn't know it had more than 2 gears...don't really need more than that anyway...1st gear top speed is way over N/A speed limits...2nd goes to 125 or so? Who needs 3rd anyway? Just gonna slow the 14 down...I say, remove the extra gears after 2nd and drop some weight...:P

nope! Brock said NOT to preload the shifter from 3rd through 6th. If you do, you will have the problem you are experiencing.................1st to 2nd is fine to do this..............

This is from Brock's site
DO NOT preload shift lever before blipping gas! Lever will not return quickly enough after preload 2nd-3rd and 3rd-4th. 1st-2nd is perfect every time. Switched to semi-synthetic motorcycle oil, adjusted shift lever and chain, but did not help. Change in riding style helped most. Most likely won't be an issue as bike loosens up. Called Gadson and confirmed that his personal ZX-10R had the same issue before it fixed itself with break-in miles. Bikes in Vegas were broken in already-- that's what I get for ignoring break-in procedure!

High pitched whine in 5th. I'm hoping that will go away with miles.

I'm not at all impressed with the gear box. It shifts smooth when it does, but is not consistent. I have a few more teeth to pull thru the zip-tie before I find the ideal setting where I can just touch the lever to shift. If this had a cable set up, there would be a big difference as in... (better) shift quality. I'm compensating for the fluid assist by necessity... fork and dog preservation.

I use the zip to cause the lever to break the plates right to the point of slip. Eases the shift, less (time) movement at the lever, plus it 's right there like a hair trigger .
I want to run zero freeplay just like the throttle cable. No slop, instant touch of the throttle causes instant response. You can't make any sudden moves with zero throttle play like you can with a little 1/16" or 1/8" freeplay most everyone is comfortable with.
I run zero clutch lever play as well. Being this is a liquid pull, I have to set the lever so the push rod is about as close as a female's genitalia follicle touching the pressure plate.
Most likely this is CR's complaint.... and justified. The lever (throw) is way too long. Meaning you're already pulling up on the shifter, where you're still pulling in on the clutch lever. The shift happened more when you lifted on the throttle, rather than pulling in on the clutch lever. The clutch lever needs to be pulled in sooner, so 3rd, 4th , and 5th can work a little smoother. The clickers that distance the lever have nothing to do with it. It's internal.
Liquid levers for a clutch suck IMO. I have to hunt for the correct distance on the 14's clutch. Quick shifts on the 14 need precision foot/lever coordination. I'm just weeding out a little distance when the lever finally pushes the rod to break the plates. Hopefully the zip-tie will get me there?

here I thought precision and shift input was just me being sloppy.
I figured I needed to clean up my act...
now that you mention it i agree..........................Its not me!
