If there is a fix i'm sure Muzzy or Brock will be in the case real quick ...As fast as the bikes are running i'm not really sure it's a problem ....Brock sure didn't say anything about it in his drag test.

Brock did tell me in a phone conversation that he felt there was way too much power in 1st, and I believe he was referring to what he see's on the drag strip..but for the rest of us, it would be really nice to have that power on the street. Since they usually launch the 14 at 5K+ on the track, there would be no need to fuck with the curve below that. That being said, removing the 2nd butterfly -- would the bike handle that well? I would think that you would need more fuel along with the higher inrush of air? I don't believe the ECU can compensate for that, since the only time it would add more fuel, is when IT DECIDES to open the secondary butterfy and not simply when the butterfly is removed from the bike altogether. I would think that any type of fix like this should be tested on the Dyno to see where the A/F mixture is and how the curve is affected by the "fix". I also think a PCIII could be mapped to handle that, since you can dictate the A/F by throttle position and RPM. Sounds too easy, but maybe that's the solution...now who's gonna rip the 1st 14 apart to try this .

I've been thinking the same thing...

The ECU is probably set up to deliver fuel on a curve based on its opening the secondary butterflies.

So my guess is that, if one were to remove the secondary butterflies, then whack the throttle open too quickly, the ECU would 'see' its secondary butterfly position as the amount of air with which to inject fuel. Problem is, without the secondary butterflies, when the throttle is whacked open the pressure in the ports (past the first 'mechanical' butterflies) will go to atmospheric, the velocity will drop and the ECU will only be injecting the amount of fuel it sees as appropriate for the secondary butterfly position - not nearly enough to feed the need.

Welcome to Bogville.

Just a guess...

+1 ...what i said earlier !
It would fall on its face unless the fuel map, and ignition timing compensate
