ZX-14 Heli riser review by Black14
First of all I would like to express that I am a believer in Heli Modified as a company. Harry is a real motorcycle enthusiast and takes great care in keeping with the theme of the motorcycle when he does his designs.
Now to the risers:
I must say that these do make a difference for me. The difference is not huge, but noticeable nonetheless. The seating position is a bit more relaxed around town for me when there isn't much wind pushing me back. That is a good thing. I am only 5'6" tall and found the stock setting not too bad, but a bit of a reach. Any improvement to me is worthwhile. At highway speeds I find that I can actually move back a little further in my seat and still maintain a comfortable seating position. I no longer need to be quite as close to the tank. I especially notice the difference when going down a hill and hard on the brakes, quite a bit less pressure. I'm not sure how the experience of someone taller would be, but I suspect that it would be worth it. These lift up the grips about 3/4 of an inch but Harry was able to change the angle of the grips slightly, about 3/8 of an inch toward the seat.
Our great motorcycle the ZX-14 has very limited space in which to modify the position without going too radical and therefore changing the sporting capabilities. Just slightly higher and the throttle cables would contact the fairing just below the windshield. These risers have an excellent quality appearance and are actually fairly difficult to notice. You will notice that the fork sits a bit low relative to the grip compared to stock. I believe this could be quite useful if you want to lower the front of the bike. You could actually drop the front by 3/4 of an inch or more without the forks looking abnormally high compared to the grips. Of course if you lower the front much you would want to lower the rear as well. I hope this to be helpful. Thanks.

Thanks Black, I ordered some today and it seems from your review that it was a good decision.

These look great, similar in shape as the stockers, except little taller and at $ 79.95, that is very reasonable.

Thats because it is the stocker, with a riser plate underneath.

Why on earth would anyone design new bars? Seems like a simple spacer is the way to go... did someone say that Heli was making entirely new bars at some point? That would be a pita to install compared with spacers.

maybe because the angle of the stock bars suck.
and no they are not replacing the clip ons as far as I know.
pitty, i want to flatten out the downward bend.
Transferiing handlebar components is simple.
I had replaced my bars at least 40 times over a 12 years of motox racing

Good observation Dub. I missed that. This explains the low price.

Are these type (as shown in the picture) any good or are they junk? I'm thinking about risers since at 5'9" the reach does place a good amount of pressure on my hands.
I'm looking to gain like 1" in height....that should do it. The angle seem fine.
If they're worth it, where to buy?

I'm 5'6" and they are very worth it for me. 1" would actually make contact with the fairing which would not be good. You can go to helibars.com to get the ordering info. Thanks.

Just wondering how does that effect your throttle and clutch cables.
Any adjustments needed and where did you get them ???

The reason for the modest change is that they don't cause interference with any cables. If you were willing to alter and move a bunch of stuff a more aggressive change would be possible but they wanted to keep this mod as easy to install as possible without making any changes.
