Dyno'd the stock 14 - 1000 miles
I rolled up to the shop with exactly 1000 miles on the odo. Kinda funny, I thought. Anyway, here are the numbers. For whatever reason, I was expecting a little more HP but the torque impressed me.

Chad having fun.

I'd like to see a few back to back dyno runs between a stock 12, stock 14, and a stock Busa on the same dyno, same day, one right after the other for a little comparison.
That just seems low, but it could just be the dyno.

It seems to be inline with what most other guys have measured stock...Busa's out of the box do around 152+...in that range...so this seems to be quite normal for the 14.

D&D Exhaust has my bike right now. They are running 2-3 baseline pulls, then fabricating a set of slip-ons & brackets, and running a couple more pulls. I'm interested to see how those numbers turn out. I'm sure the slip-ons won't affect much power, but I'd really like to know what my baseline looks like.
Their dyno is a ram-air setup with blowers driven off the dyno drum. They said the last 'busa they tested benefited 9hp with ram-air. BUT, when they tried to line up their ram-air tubes with the front of the '14, they said it wouldn't reach forward enough to shoot straight into the intake... not sure if they were able to modify it to work or not. Should know more by the end of this week.

D&D? Maybe they are FINALLY gonna make pipes that make HP and not just noise. Good luck on that...

He just built up an '05 Busa. Stock, it was 151/91, after the pipe, PC, airbox, it did 171/100. On that same dyno, my '00 12 was 156 (don't remember tq) stock, 171/95 piped and PC'd.
Obviously, these runs aren't same day, back to back, but I think the numbers are typical.

I expect WAY more for a bike with 1000 miles on it. Hell, my buddies 01 AND 05 Busa put up number like that!

This may be a stupid question (never been on a dyno) but why am I not seeing on the dyno chart this infamous <5k softness everyone's talking about?
Looks like a pretty linear pull from 3k to me...

Brock got about the same horsepower with his 14. I believe with power commander and pipe and pump gas, we are talking high 180's....................

Nah... just cans right now. They don't have plans to make a full pipe yet - nobody has called asking for one. I'm sure Muzzy's has that market cornered right now.
I'm only looking for improved sound.... this '14 sounds like an electric motor, I just want to hear it! Heck, my ZZR1200 made more noise than this '14 does!

Seem like pretty normal numbers to me - I'll bet yer bike picks up a few more hp closer to 2k miles though.

It is bizarre how quiet the 14 is. My wife has a 2004 ZZR600 and when I blew by her she said there was no sound and that I should be careful about making sure people I pass are paying attention. She said that she could always hear my ZZR1200 winding up.

Torque curve grasshopper.
See the huge fuckin dip in torque at 5000 rpm's causing a flat spot in hp from 3000 to 5000 rpm's? That flat spot feels like twisting the throttle, hearing the rpm's go up, but no increase in hp. Right after 5000 rpm's the torque/hp curve start to go up, feeling like the bike is starting to accelerate.

That dynochart is about exactly the same as what i got. 163.2 hp. I wonder what a full muzzy pipe will do. I heard it adds about 8 hp and 3 ft lb's torque. Anyone dyno theres with the muz??

You guy can't compare different dynos. I have seen tooo much variance between dynos. Its apples to oranges unless done on the same dyno back to back...

Who cares about dyno HorsePower on a completely stock bike???
Put a full pipe and gearing on any bike and now you have usable HorsePower!!!

Show TS a little respect.?
I ain't seen no other dyno charts from members here and those that know - understand those are decent, honest numbers.
If you think your 14 is gonna pull 190 at the rear box stock you need some schoolin'.
P.S. - Busa's have never pulled the RWHP some guys have thrown out either.

Is it just me, or is this way too much focus on what the '14 can pull on a dyno? I can understand those of you that are actually drag racing the bike that it is important. But unless you spend a lot of time at 9500 + rpm, 5 or 10 horsepower either way is not a big deal. More torque under 6000 rpm would make a bigger difference to most riders and make the bike quicker where it counts for most of us.
It seems the 'Busa boards are totally focused on the fact that the '14 does not have 30 more horsepower than their bikes. The fact the '14 'only' makes around 10 more horsepower means the '14 is a kind of a turd or something! They miss the fact regarding how much superior the '14 is actually to ride as far as handling, braking, suspension, etc.
The bike seems adequately powerful to me............seems to be able to keep up with traffic flow most days............

Uh...
Why do I have the feeling that I'm about to feel like a tard, but, no, I don't see the huge dip in torque at 5k. I guess it's my highly untrained eye.
Like I said, it looks pretty linear to me - just a nice clean arc without any substantial dip. The same is reflected in the hp line - nice and linear without a huge dip anywhere to be seen (at least by me)...

Damn fellas you guys are one tough crowd. I agree different dynos will read differently. My bike was dynoed on dynojet250 with sae numbers. Ts, brock, and myself have similiar numbers that is all. What i was interested is a baseline number for the average zx14 owner.
Then, add any brand of pipe and they got" x amount of hp increase" over there base run so we as 14 owners can roughly calculate the hp increases of each mod added. Hence, free education for everyone on this site.
It appears at least from me spending my hard earned cash for dyno time that the zx14 is about 10 hp stronger than an my old busa. It also looks like the zx14 is about 8-10 hp stronger than my 2 zx12's ,(when they were dynoed stock)that i still own.
Thanks Ts for posting your dynochart!
