I'm sure all the usual players will make a damper for the ZX14 (just like all the other typical aftermarket parts). Just be patient, the bikes have only been out a month now.

Don't be so sure.

Scotts/Ohlins bailed completely on the B model.

If all you 1st year 14 owners get as jiggy with it in the curves as some of us "A" bitches did maybe Ohlins will build you a radial damper too.?

My bike has not shown the even the slightest hint it needs a damper............then again I don't do 100 mph wheelies and land them badly.

Have you set up your suspension? If not, that might be the problem. I've got absolutely NO headshake issues, I ride fairly aggressively in the corners/sweepers.

suspension set. If you ride like you got a set you need a damper.. You have to have one for the track anyways..

Same here...no issue at all with headshake or stability..at speeds or in any corner, nnless you have the throttle pinned and the front gets light..but the dampner wouldn't do a whole lot while the bike is in the air anyway...I would imagine it might help prevent some front end wobble on landing after a wheelie though...but I don't do that too often anyway on the 14.

I remembered reading this post lastnight when we finally got to the drags...i noticed with the front end strapped down tight the strap acted like a damper and wouldnt allow shake, coming down from wheelies/launches. I still think a dampner would help but it wasnt that big of a deal with it strapped down.

I don't know about the 14, but my stock 2k 12r power wheelied in the first 3 gears. Now that it's a 1361, it's even harder to keep the front wheel down. Anyway, there have been several times I've appreciated my dampner's ability to hold tight when the front wheel didn't want to. Years ago, my brother came down crooked on his 9r and ended up in the hospital. All that would have been avoided by a dampner. Cheap insurance, I'd say....

I travel over quite a number of bridge passes. The transition from freeway-to-bridge-bridge-to-freeway is pretty bumpy. I stand up going over those. Coming home yesterday, I stood up for one bridge pass, and the front end took off on it's own! You know how time slows down when you're about to get tossed? What's funny is that you think the same speed of thought in your head, and real time is moving at the same speed as well. Then how does (the sense of time slow down) happen that way? Anyway...
Since this steering shit is very serious stuff, let me set up the situation. I ride this bike like it's the last day I will ever ride. So, fuck it, I spank the shit out of this bike each time I go out. Book break-in can go sit on the shelf.
There's a section of freeway that grades down into a valley floor. This wide downhill has way too many white lines to be kinked over on. But you can still traverse at a good clip if you're careful. The front end steer from lane 4 to lane 1 is like pulling a hair trigger of a gun. Your input better be on the money going down hill that fast (heading for the concrete center) on the 14. The touch is dangerously precise. Fuck those tube frame bikes waving (or losing) their tensile strength, like someone flapping a bed sheet in the wind. I'm sitting on one solid 8X8 wood beam. The flex is gone. One reason I belive the bike sets-up so well when you push the bars.

Literally, the tank recess design is set so far back, I can no longer relate that I had a... "Tank Slapper!" on the 14... (check for yourselves)

OK, that was very pleasant moving down hill (faster than I ever have) holding on to a set of handle bars that feels like I'm steering a dirt bike. Should I slow down the pivot input with a damper? Na, not for this downhill. You want to talk about what the front end did to me over a bump yesterday? Then, you bet I'd like to try a front end damper cranked up riding over that bridge pass I just experienced.
Now I hit this particular bridge overpass. Don't ask me if the first hit sent the front end (lightly) swapping, or the second hit going back onto the freeway? For all I know, the first bump started it, and the second bump back on the freeway kept it going?
Here's where the time slows down. I'm now a passenger on this ride. I know there's "dancing daylight" between the front wheel, and road. The guy/gal(?) next to me must have seen an eye full to what was happening if he/she happend to look over? I'm thinking in my head s/he's seeing this, and who knows who in back of me is getting a shot of this as well? I have the speed stepped up way over the average 70 mph everyone else is averaging. Not only am I chuckling over what these cagers are witnessing, but I'm also thinking about the musician club owner in the movie "Collateral", where the owner moves his drink down, and is ready to take the bullet. I'm also thinking the same thing ready to go down...."Let me have it." What else could I do?

No sooner than I said, "have', the bike corrected. That was it. It was a tap dance. Very light. Somewhat of an eye opener. Was I standing all the while? Again, I may have sat back down during the swap, or it settled out before I sat down? At this point I don't remember, nor do I care. All I know is the correction happened too quick to worry about ME personally installing a damper from this experience.
The scissor input of the bars will not be compromised. This bike spoiled me. I'm leaving it alone. If anything, I'd like to lose a touch more weight off the bars by simply matching the little clutch reservoirs together, or even going GP style (clear tubes plugged off).

I really like the way this bike steers without any drag imposed on it. I'll take my chances w/out a damper. I'm sure if this happend to someone else, they'd be googling 'dampers' big time. It will take a lot more swap to spook me.... sorry.

I think he said, "I don't need no stinkin' damper." but I'm not certain.
