ZREXER and Crotchrocket, it might not to be important to you or other people, but it might be important to the owner. As far as wanting to know what it does stock, that is important so one can figure out the power increase from modifications....

Looks like a pretty linear pull from 3k to me...
I think you're thinking "flat spot" or "dip" in the power band. The bike doesn't have that. Just a softness down low compared to a Busa. I trhink a comparison of dyno runs between the 2 bikes would show this.

That just seems low, but it could just be the dyno.
Actually, that # is right in the ballpark. Bikes generally lose 12-15% to the rear wheel.

Uh...
Why do I have the feeling that I'm about to feel like a tard, but, no, I don't see the huge dip in torque at 5k. I guess it's my highly untrained eye.
Like I said, it looks pretty linear to me - just a nice clean arc without any substantial dip. The same is reflected in the hp line - nice and linear without a huge dip anywhere to be seen (at least by me)...

LMAO @ adam! I dunno know about your advice, though. If I'm not working (and drinking beer) in the garage of an evening, I'm drinking Scotch and surfing. Now "dinking and internetting" I'm not so sure about!

the extra cc's are in the stroke primarily not the bore. Therefore you'll see an increase in torque from the 12r not necessarily horsepower.

Ok your number are quite accurate. My stock zx12r made 154 SAE on the dyno box stock. So 162 SAE is about right. Of course 162 SAE is more like 169.12.STD. The same thing Brock Davidson got. Don't be upset your bike is fine..

There isn't much of a dip at 5K, its down lower at 2k and up...5K is about where the dip finishes...the 14 at 3K, should be running over 80lbs RWTQ SAE not 51 as shown in the chart above, my old Busa did at least that and from what I can see when the 14 is cold, it pulls even harder than the Busa did at 3K...

This low RPM TQ issue sounds like a bummer to me.
In comparison, my 1270 makes 80 ft. lbs. by 3,300 rpm and hits 97 ft. lbs. by 3,800!! Breaks 100 at 4,700 and peaks out at 110.2 at 7,600
I will keep an eye out for how this engine responds to proper tuning with a Full exhaust.

One more thing, it looks like it'll be at least the end of next week before I get my Brock exhaust. In the meantime, my tuner is ordering a PowerCommander from Schnitz, I'll install it, and he'll do quick map in the 80-100% range on the DJ250. That way we'll all know how an otherwise stock 14 does with just a PC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI, info you have been waiting for!!! So with a high flow air filter, and a good exhaust, things should be very good!!!
Greg,
Finally got a ZX14 in here!! The bike is going to require a different harness than we currently have so it will be about 4-6 weeks before we start delivering them. I will get a hand built unit made up and sent to you next week.
We saw 161 stock and 167 with the PCIII, just FYI.

I just don't understand. That post says the wiring harness is different, Brock's Dragbike article shows a mess of a diagram with a hacked up PC, but Schnitz says it's the same as a 10R unit with a different map. I guess I'll see when it gets here.
Anyway, 6HP is pretty cool for just the box. You can see on my chart that the bike goes pig-fat about 9500 so it's very believable to me.
Thanks for posting, swft.

Has anyone heard of a dyno that gives power numbers "at the countershaft"?
My bike's at D&D and they told me some numbers (no chart in my hands yet), but they said the numbers were at the countershaft, not the wheel. I know it's a chassis dyno - I saw it when I dropped the bike off. Is it common to use some formula to convert rwhp/rwtq to countershaft numbers? That just seems odd to me, and not comparable with any other numbers.
Even if that's all they tell me, I'm sure I can get charts for their Hayabusa, so at least they will be worth comparing to eachother.

Sure a Baseline HorsePower dyno pull is a good tool, then another dyno pull after you put mods. on your bike...
I never put my 2002 12 on the dyno and all I do is DragRace it...I have an Akrapovic stainless race pipe with gearing, OEM air filter, stock timing and use mr9 VP race fuel...My fastest MPH was 153.51in the 1/4 which puts me at 175-180 HorsePower at the wheel in 55 degree weather...In the summer of 80-90 degrees my MPH is 150...
It doesn't bother me to know exactly what the Horse Power output is on my 12, I just dont like the idea of the dyno, it's not to good for the motor!!!
