quote: yup .....keep 1000 and the next time some kid pulls up to you at a light give him a dirty look and blip the gas until he cant stand it.when the light turn green you will have the kid blasting up the road total out of control .....while you sit at the light and watch him make a fool out of himself I love to do this and most of the time it works. enjoy the 1000 as it is the product of over 10 years of development and is a great bike that deserves a lot of respect. these new bikes are light years ahead of most us drivers anyway and that is what keeps the sport going. we dont have to prove it to anybody what are bikes can and will do. it just the thrill of owning them that I like. most people dont care or know or want to know about bikes or any hobbie except the person that is in to it......the people next door say the zx 1400 is a pretty red...thats all they know or care about it. I tell them I got it because it matches their mini wagon and they love it

Not sure if I'm in the right thread.
Anyway.
Fed up with waiting for the bloody thing - February they told me, and still no sign.
One thing you can't get away from though, from what people who've ridden it and timed it are saying, is that it sounds like it's gutless under 6000 revs, and it's also just as heavy as a Busa.
I went this afternoon to my local Suzuki dealer, and sat on a GSXR 1000. I've been put off the litre bikes in recent years because they're all so tiny, but this is fine, I'm thinking as I sit on it. (I'm 6', 200lbs).
Also, much better power to weight than Busa/ZX14 (mags here have been saying it will do 40-120mph in top gear in under 10 secs - nothing else comes close) - and I'm thinking, this has got to be the way to go. (My last bike - Busa with full Hindle system and Power Commander - don't ask me what power it made, but it shifted).
My riding is 100% road.
Would be interested to hear people's views - is it just a matter of physical size?
you can enjoy cruising around up to 6000 rpm it is enough power for cruising, then you better hold on tight because the power and torque over 6000 all the way till red line is nothing you have felt in any stock sportbike.
about the gixer1000 if you do alot of road riding the ergo will bother you, the leg postion is not comfy and might as well get you some wrest pads!!! unless you want to get helibar which helps but if i want to do that i get me sport tourer.

the zx 1400 is very quick....its just that its just so smooth and builds power that just does not stop. if you want a road bike that eats up the miles and comes back for more the zx 1400 is it. if you want a fun bike to blast around on alone get the 1000. they sound like a bee hive full of angry bees. and rev. very fast and are very fast . the 1000 is the sprinter and the zx1400 is the long distance runner....they both go down the road great but the zx 1400 is all about smooth........................did I say its fast. the suzuki is the light weight with the big knock out punch.....you cant lose ...they are both great for what they are .take your pick you wont be sorry. the 1000 will out handle the zx 1400 as it weighs 100 lbs more but the zx 1400 handles like a much smaller bike than it is . its up to you! or get both and really have some fun

are you a hooligan, or a gentleman?
Nuff said! LOL
true though ... wheelie antics, stoppies etc?.... get a 1000, or better yet a 600.
Distance riding, comfort, refined details, straight liner, torque, 2 up riding...
Get a zx14

Have to get some more numbers from guys going to drag strips before I say to much about which bike is quicker, and i mean some average joes. I know what I ran and my stock busa so I can't wait to get to the track. I just sold a zx 10r making 174 hp at the rear wheel and if it was stretched the 14 or busa would be no match.

Get both! I like your thinking!
Not possible right now unfortunately. I haven't even put money down on one because of the conflicting stories I've been getting from different dealers on delivery dates - everyone's blaming it on you Americans for snapping up all the early production!
If you thought you had it bad, we've had it a whole lot worse - I don't think there's a single bike in the country yet, from what people are saying, and you guys are already riding around on them.
We're very concerned, because as you know, the UK summer is 10 days, 2 weeks at best.

Yup, my wife and I each have 'em (she has the trike). Not comparable animals to the 14 in any practical way. The Boss Hosses are fun cruisers and run down the freeway nicely but don't do too well in the twisties. They handle VERY well for a 1400 lb. bike but they lack lean angle. The two wheelers lack traction so putting down enough power to the ground in the 1/4 mile is darn near impossible except on the trike models and then you loose even more of your cornering fun.

Yes, I understand completely. It was the nicest mannered bike of its era until v-boost took over. It was the only street bike I ever felt comfortable riding on its rear tire. The balance point of sport bikes makes me uncomfortable, my '83 GPz1100 taught me that and I just don't feel the need to loft the front tire beyond a few inches any more, I'd rather accelerate anyway.

kawasaki has had a history of giving their bikes a little kick in the pants around 6k and I think they just wanted that special power band to continue with the 1400. the 1972 h2 750 is a blast to ride as the power bandcomes on with out much warning...alot of people died on these things as they tried to go around bends in the road and got on the gas at the same time....not a good thing....back then or now

I thought so in '83 but after riding the V-Max I had no desire to ride it again. In '86 a ZX1000R followed me home and although it got mediocre reviews I liked it a lot. I just cannot believe how far a 14 is beyond those bikes. It's like comparing a '60's muscle car to todays NEW muscle cars. You don't have to give up anything for acceleration any more.
