1999 busa vs zx1400
Ive got a brother who has a stock 1999 busa with 3000 miles on it. he just saw the tail light of my zx 1400 red burner. he got the jump on me in first gear and pulled out 2 bike lengths but I used the clutch and kept the rpms up around 6000 and by the time we hit 2nd gear I went flying him and never saw him again. what a ride. I have been riding for 36 years and my brother a little longer and he does not like lose. he told me after that he gave the busa all she had and could not keep up with the zx. he knows how to ride the busa ...he rode the 1400 after wards and stated that it outpulls on the busa in every gear except down low. we must have look great riding down the road together...tapped out in high gear at least 4 miles the busa has meet the new king....long live the zx1400

Sounds about right. Suzuki style torque and Kawasaki style horsepower. The new ZZR1400 will be the best sport touring bike ever made till a better one comes along...
Both of you better not mess with a new liter bike stock for stock though...

I still have not had a busa to play with ..But i have killed every Liter bike i have come across and some of them had pleanty for mods ... I only ran one stock 06 gixxer and mopped the floor with him..The liter bikes are NO joke, the first 3 gears they hang in real good but at the upper speeds the zx14 starts walking away... But you better not mess up on your zx14 while racing a liter bike, one opps and your dead ...

i have a 06 gsxr 1000 and it is a monster on power but the problem with it is that in high speed it is not as stable as zx14.

I pulled up next to a Busa on the way home from work tonite. He did not even want to play?
I was surprised to say the least, open highway in front and he does not even want to pull a rollon.

Shawn... Simple math and weight to horsepower ratio...
craigb -- de-restricted has nothing to do with anything other than absolute top speed and usually only 1-2 mph depending on situation...

Not to rain on the parade... I don't doubt the 14 is gonna kick the busa's humpy behind... But has he had other busas? Because I find it hard to believe he knows how to ride the busa pretty well with only 3000 miles on a 7 year old bike.

no rain on my parade its a fact jack just because my brother keeps low miles on his bikes does not wean that he does not enjoy them. ive got a 1975 kawasaki z1b in my garage with 11000 miles... the grand father to the zx1400 if your not old enough to remember. my brother has got a 1976 kz 900 with 14000 miles on it. the 75 was a little faster because of slighly larger carbs. and a hotter cam.he also has a blue 1972 750 h2 low miles two stroke.....anybody remember that one. how about a 1985 vmax low mileage in my garage or a 1987 fzr 1000 or a 1990 zx 11 . just because we enjoy collecting them does not mean that we have to ride them into the ground. did I talk about the harleys we got too....thats another story.....give the zx1400 the credit it deserves....in a few years there will be a better faster bike that comes along. and I and many of you other guys here will own that one too. we just enjoy motorcycles.I can remember when the 1969 honda 750 came out...now thats a bike....

I have a good friend with a 06 suzuki gsxr 1000 who is alot younger and rides like there is no tomorrow. he will beat me on my bikes only because he has no fear of dying...this guy will pull the front wheel up at 130 and try to stand on the seat.....too much for me.....I have not told him of my new toy.....I will let him find out when he comes over to see his old friend. I have been a big fan of suzuki over the years and have enjoyed my 03 busa alot and plan on keeping it a long time.I have gotten every bike magazine on the market from about 1967 on. and kept most of them over the years. dont believe every thing you read.....bike companys have a lot to gain or lose on these magazines as they seem to drive bike sales with new ....greatest... most h/p ect. any body remember the suzuki 750 water buffalo....the magazines hated the bike and gave it only warm reviews and it was a great bike....way ahead of its time.we have to tell the companys what we want in a bike and if the companys see a profit to build it and sell them like hot dogs at a ball game they will...and we will get a better bike from it in the end. has the vmax changed much over the years since 1985...no do they still sell...... yes. will I buy the new v max when it comes out.....I dream about it every night. cant wait....hope they build a monster that destroys every thing else on the road...until then I just keep waxing my bikes listen to the radio and have a few cold ones with my friends and take my zx 1400 out on sunny days and try to enjoy life and do what makes me happy with out bothering anybody else.live and let live...ect

these bikes are close....miss a shift stay on the rev limiter to long or have to drive around a dead skunk in the road and you lose. but who the hell cares. drive what you like or drive them all. they only serve us as machines to make us happy. hell I have fun on any thing that puts the wind in my face. I got a 250 ninja thats a riot to blast around on.

i agree on busa, i had 2000, 2002 limited and 2005 which i sold recently, it is a great bike,i would have kept it if there was no zx14. talking about 06 gsxr1000, i have one and i am fixing to sell it. this bike is scarey fast and unpredictable, hey i am getting older and wiser and be honest with you i don't have the guts to do crazy staff, maybe getting older make you think of consequences.

yup .....keep 1000 and the next time some kid pulls up to you at a light give him a dirty look and blip the gas until he cant stand it.when the light turn green you will have the kid blasting up the road total out of control .....while you sit at the light and watch him make a fool out of himself I love to do this and most of the time it works. enjoy the 1000 as it is the product of over 10 years of development and is a great bike that deserves a lot of respect. these new bikes are light years ahead of most us drivers anyway and that is what keeps the sport going. we dont have to prove it to anybody what are bikes can and will do. it just the thrill of owning them that I like. most people dont care or know or want to know about bikes or any hobbie except the person that is in to it......the people next door say the zx 1400 is a pretty red...thats all they know or care about it. I tell them I got it because it matches their mini wagon and they love it

Writing from UK.
Not sure if I'm in the right thread.
Anyway.
Fed up with waiting for the bloody thing - February they told me, and still no sign.
One thing you can't get away from though, from what people who've ridden it and timed it are saying, is that it sounds like it's gutless under 6000 revs, and it's also just as heavy as a Busa.
I went this afternoon to my local Suzuki dealer, and sat on a GSXR 1000. I've been put off the litre bikes in recent years because they're all so tiny, but this is fine, I'm thinking as I sit on it. (I'm 6', 200lbs).
Also, much better power to weight than Busa/ZX14 (mags here have been saying it will do 40-120mph in top gear in under 10 secs - nothing else comes close) - and I'm thinking, this has got to be the way to go. (My last bike - Busa with full Hindle system and Power Commander - don't ask me what power it made, but it shifted).
My riding is 100% road.
Would be interested to hear people's views - is it just a matter of physical size?
