Polished Wheels
I polished the wheel lips on the 14 today and they look really nice. I dont know who chose the color of the wheels. That color doesn't coordinate with anything on the bike. But it doesn't look bad with the lips polished. Will try to post a pic tomorrow.

I saw a picture of a ZZR 14 with the natural aluminum finish and they looked pretty
good ...... I just dont know how it would look on an all black bike like mine.
Im considering black powdercoating.

PM's not working at the moment....
What process did you use?
Wet sand first, etc...? Do these wheels have a clear coat on them? Did you have to go over the area first with acetone?
Has anyone bead blasted these first to get the entire wheel a natural color and then polished the lips and rims?
TIA, Jack

My Bike is Black. I took aircraft stripper & removed the paint from the edges on each side of rim., after, i semi sanded & polished with green magic metal polish. I taped them up & painted the inside a Gloss black.

My bike is Candy Thunder Blue ('06 ZX-14). I have a spare set of stock wheels in the same Baby Turd Bronze color.
I'm thinking of striping all of the paint off of the spare set and then just polishing the rims and lips.
Probably mask off and clear coat the inner portions of the wheel for easier cleanup.
I found a pneumatic polishing kit on E-Bay and then did some more searching for a better price.
Ordered this yesterday:

Polished mine with Chrome, like Jack I have the original Browns and need to do something with them. I took them off when new, and still have the new OEM tires mounted. Wonder if they will work on the C14,

Wheels came out really nice!
The rim surfaces were easy enough but the center sections were too porus.
I sanded down the centers and removed any flashings and rough stuff then cleaned them thoroughly.
Painted them with Krylon primer then Aluminum color and finished them off with Krylon X Metal Blue Anodize. After that I clear coated the centers.
Instead of looking anodized the centers look more like the Candy Thunder Blue color of the stock body work.

Thanks for the kudos.
Now if I could just find some SS slipons I could remove the rear fender again.
I have a pair of mid pipes for a Leo Vince application. I paid $20 for both of them new from a friend.
They have the typical 2" O.D. at the can end to slip inside the usual 2.060" canisters.
I was thinking about a pair of Delkevic SS cans.
They sell for $269 on flea bay. I've already checked and they will slip right on to my mids and the straps will bolt right up too.
They don't sell a ZX-14 specific set but that doesn't matter as the mids are what positions the cans.
I'm not looking for any more HP. These bikes have enough already.
I'd just like to get it a little louder and well, a little prettier.
Every time I look at those long cans it reminds me of a WW II torpedo.
The only negative that I've heard about the Delkevic's is that they are kind of loud, but they do offer a longer can for the same money.
These are for a 2004 + Aprilia RSV

So, whaddya think?
