Front and rear stands
Does anyone have any first-hand experience with any of the lower-cost front & rear stands that are advertised in the back of Cycle World? Since the 14 didn't come with a centerstand, I'm thinking about going this route instead. Comments?
The first is from Handy Industries, combo kit for $99.

The second is from FlynCycle, combo kits for either $119 (MotoGP) or $89 (BikeTEK).

Handys work ok for the $$$. Easily transportable. You can get them in a spool style too.
No experience with the others... other than to say those swingarm holders are silly.
Go with a spooled rear stand when possible

I use the ones from FlyNcycle, he's only about 20 minutes away from me. There is no real difference between the motoGP and paddock stands, get the cheaper ones and then buy the spools and hooks that go with them.
I have used the handy stands also, but I do not like the front stand since it's not adjustable. Well it is adjustable, but only because you have to bend it.

I picked up the Handy set when I got my 04 Busa. I've had them under the 14 a couple of time so far and they fit quite well. The rear is spaced to full travel to fit the spools, but the front didn't require any bending for either the Busa or the 14. The rear stand comes close to the license plate light (on the 14) when first in contact with the spools, so you have to be careful when letting the bike down or you might pinch your fingers (don't ask.) The front stand should be lifted slowly so the "posts" slide into the holes at the bottom of the shocks.

I had an LP stand a friend gave me years ago - what a piece of shit that was. I gave it away to the first person who said he wanted it.
I use Pit Bulls. Expensive and worth every penny. I have the "New-Front" front stand and it fits both my 12 and R1 with just a pin swap.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm still undecided, but I need to do something.
I've had a rear pitbull before and I really liked it, but damn they are expensive. I know you "get what you pay for", but I've never heard of a bike falling off even the cheapies... has anyone else?
A friend of mine bought my old pitbull rear when I sold my ZRX and he's still got it. He also just bought their new front stand recently. We do all of our tire changes as his house - that's where we mounted our group-purchase Coats tire changer, but I want something that'll make chain lube & adjustment easier when I'm by myself. I jacked up the bike the other day using the side stand, and jack placed under the shock pivot... it worked ok, but there's no room to work on the chain side with the bike sitting sideways like that.
Is there a discount place to buy a pitbull, or should I just to go my local cycle gear shop and pay full retail if I decide to go that direction?

I've definitely heard of bikes falling off cheap stands. The one and only time I tried to use the LP my 12 almost fell over. Verrrrrry unstable. I threw it in the corner of the garage and was going to throw it out until a guy I know said he'd take it. I warned him that it sucked, but he wanted it anyway.
The other thing you have to be careful of is cheap spools come with cheap grade bolts. There is a guy on the R1 site that had a spool bolt break and did lots of damage to his brand new bike... Sad.
The spooled rear Pitbull is only $129 which is really not bad to make sure your new $11K motorcycle is nice and stable.
I ordered both of mine directly from Pitbull. Had them 3 business days later.

I had Handy Stands on an old R1.....and yes they can fall off. The front stand was a nightmare, bike fell off the second time I used it and I barely saved it from eating concrete. I have been using a PitBull since and love it.
