68 miles and clicking
Took her out today for the first time and when i left the dealer i was not impressed with the power at all. But that was to change in about 4 miles once i go to the interstat. I did notice that she is ultra smooth down low and pretty much through all the gears for that matter. Looks and feels great though i did not corner hard because of the chicken strips and the lacker that come on new tires. Anyhow once on the interstate i decided to start my break in. I hit her and took her up to 80 to my amazed the tach only ws reading 4-4200rpms. I hit it again and was at 90 about 5000-5500rpms. I was not impressed at all about the power. then i laid into here and she let me know why the 14 is the new bully on the block. above 6000 she started pulling from under me. Now you are talking to a 245lbd dude that came from a nitrous fed 1270 zx12 geared 16/48. The tourque and power is there and its playing possum under 6000 rpms. i was going to change the oil this weekend but my dealer as probably a lot of other dealer does not have oil-filters for this thing. Anyhow.. I will let everyone know how everything is going. through the break-in. I am goign to get up to maybe 8000 rpm once i get a 100 or so miles and and oil change. will do another at 500. then i think the gloves will come off.
Schnitz shipped out my tie strap bracket, lowering links, and mirror block off platestoday, That i ordered a month ago i might add. I am still waiting on front sprocket though, When it all said and done i will post pics of before and after

Just a thought............
My bike is at the dealer, still have to get the set up done and finally get on the road! Anyway, the 'neutered' power below 6000 might not be too bad for those of us planning to do some touring on the '14. Not having the full hit of power below 6000 rpm might not be so bad if you are riding on a cold day in the rain. Spinning the tire at highway speeds from a sudden hit of power on cold wet tires is a thrill I can do without myself!
Obviously I'll have a much better idea how the bike performs at sub 6000 rpm's when I get it on the road next week.

It's not that bad, but when you know it has more but you can't have it...it's fucking annoying...I paid for it, it's mine, therefore it should be there -- right? If you want a hard launch, slip the clutch and let her rip -- and watchout, she'll rip yer shoulders right outta yer sockets!

If they have one for the 12 then they do. The 16097-0004 is the replacement for the 16097-0002, they are interchangeable and simply made by another vendor. Kawasaki will continue to ship the 0002 until they are all gone and then switch to the 0004 that came on the 14. So go change your oil . . .

I can imagine the scene at Kawasaki............after months of dyno testing, the motor guys pat themselves on the back for a job well done. Got the head flowing the way they wanted, cam grind and timing dialed in, good power all the way through the power band, the motor is a knockout power crazy gem............then the company lawyers panic and an edict is sent to the software guys to muzzle the engine some what to keep all those 'crazy assed' Americans, Canadians and Europeans from killing themselves. Maybe they should have added a Gold Wing style airbag to make us all safer while they were at it!
It's encouraging that the 'hardware' is there now. If unleashing some serious low end power is just some after market computer tunning, ultimately does not sound like an expensive fix as compared to a big bore kit, cams, pistons etc.

Well i guess i will be doing an oil change tomorrow. Hey Turbo yo are wrong for that avatar. Though it is quite funny>
Zrexer, io thought the filters were interchangeable but as always my stupid dealer did not know and actually convinced me into not buying it yesterday. I told him i needed a filter for an 03 12 and he said hey yo have a 14 now

I'm sitting at about 460 miles right now. I should be ready to change the oil Sunday, if not tomorrow. Luckily my dealer had the filters in stock when I picked up mine, so I got one with (shoulda bought two) and I'm ready to do to the 600 mile change this weekend and open it up a bit more.
