Watch out!!!

Fuckin around today on the 14 weaving hard, warming up the tires around a turn in a lane behind a car at about 45 mph...2nd gear/constant low rev's. Back wheel just let go and slid like 2-3ft to the left...ground the right peg (and my boot)...this baby doesn't much like being tossed around like that...guess I'll save that shit for my litre bikes...either that or it's these BT014's...

Wow... that's scary to hear. I haven't tried anything crazy just yet, and I guess I won't. On my ride last weekend, I did take it through some familiar corners and the tires felt "ok", but I really wasn't pushing it hard yet. On the other hand, I wasn't having any trouble keeping up with my leader and I think he was pushing it a tad more than normal because he knew I was all over him that day... this bike just feels so well planted and stable compared to my ZZR. He's got way more skill than I do, and he's on an '05 RR, so I know he wasn't trying real hard, but I think I just got a lot better when I bought this '14

I'll be staying away from acute throttle inputs until this 014 rubber is used up and traded for something better. Thanks for the warning!

I feel good so far on the 14, but it's early days. I never felt real confident on Bridgestones in the past. I have Pilot Sports on my Triumph and they are awesome. They warm up really quick, and stay predictable. I only have 2k miles on this set, but could probably get another 2k out of the rear, not too bad.

Speakin of HPX's - I read that these 014's have an extra ply in em for the additional weight and speed of the bike - I wonder who else will make a similair tire?

well,
whatever aftermarket tires will fit the 'busa will fit this 14..... no?
i'm sure that EVERYONE will make aftermarket tires for the 14... because i think that folks won't get 2,500 iles out of a set ever
the combination of the weight and the power of the bike, and the needed traction to keep the rubber side down, means that there will be very little tire life.... so, tire manufacturers will get a lot of "repeat business" if they make great rings of rubber

BT014's are garbage, low mileage tires and they suck; I get 35% more out of the rear's on my HPX's without the "special" heavier compound.

That's odd to me, the 014 complaints...
I've railed plenty hard on em, '00 12R. edge to edge. Different construction from the 14's tires must make the difference, if there is any. That 12 was a wild beast in the mountains, and the 014's kept me upright. Wore fast, but hey stuck. No complaints here.

Nope -- was very consistent on the throttle at about 3k...tires were warm...did about 60 miles before it happened, but the 014's are truly shit tires IMO. I do this all the time and on my 10...can scrape pegs no problem during a weave...but this thing...uh uh...not on these tires anyway.

Rode 60 miles on them with some turning...but the roads are cold -- ambient temp was about 50...so when I went to hit the highway...I started to weave on the entrance...probably the centers were warm -- and sides were cold...IMO

gotcha. Last time I had bridgestones on my 12, I thot they were pretty good for the street. But they absolutely came apart at a track day. Five laps and they looked like shag carpet.
