Now let's see a flight, cross country break in, 3 days to do it. Hummmm very tempting very tempting in deed. If they will pay for the flight might make it worth it. In 1999 I rode from Orlando to Grand Canyon and back in 5 days so It can be do right?? Then again I have to work through Monday and by some act of God the 14 may be here??

Maybe! Altho the idea of a crazy run across country has it's appeal, most of us just don't have the free time to make it happen.

Yea I hear that, I have a lot of time off in May but the Birthdays and Graduations will eat up most of that. Doing 3-4 days on the VFR is pretty easy for me but the new bike can be a mistake (although I don't think so).

You can ship a bike anywhere in the US for $500. Cheaper than riding it back but not as much fun.

Allied freight. I just sold my bike on E-bay about a month ago. From Minneapolis to Marietta Ga. was $510.

Yeah, but you've got to buy a crate, or build one to ship it. Don't forget to add that in to the cost...

And pay him for it? I doubt they just toss those in the trash when they are done with them... they are somewhat elaborate.

Yeah... I guess it wouldn't be all that cost-effective to ship them back to Japan.

So then I wonder why there are companies that sell crates specifically for shipping bikes if they are so easy to come by at any local dealer?

Yes we do just toss them. Only some of the Kawi quads come in reusable crates.

Foward air has special crates for bikes. Minneapolis to Marietta is 1100 miles... hardly worth $500.

Cross country seems to cost $850-$1000

No crate. They have a special pallett, They just strap it down and put it on a truck.

Cross county LA to NYC is $630 by air. Do a little research!

Hardly worth $500? WTF? Airfare 1 way is at least $200. + gas +hotel+ food. Do the math. $500.00 is just as cheap or cheaper than riding.

Hey guys,

Riding a bike cross country is FUN!!!!!!!! I do it as much as possible, Is this a Harley board?

I wouldn't want to ride my smaller ones, more that cross state, but I think a 14 wouldn't be bad?

It is if you can get the time off of work! You have to do your break in miles and oil change on the road, not to mention the problems that crop up on a new bike.
A big trip on the 14 is what its made for, so after it was sorted, I would love to take off for a long trip.
