I filled today -- no bars left on the gauge, but no reserve warning either...had just shy of 2.5 gallons left in the tank.

No bars showing on the gauge, but it still had 2.5 gallons left? That seems very odd. Each time I've filled up when fuel was low I had only the E bar left, and the fuel empty message was going nuts, and there hasn't been more than 1.5 gallons left at that point.

I don't even have a bike but here is my prediction. I will Avg between 42-60 mpg if that is possible. How?
1 Weight = 155 lbs
2. Florida = Flat as a pancake
3. Elev = Sealevel
4 I'm short 5 foot 4 inches tall = I cut thru the air better..OK that was weak
5. Billy Bad Ass has a badge and there's very little going on at 5 am cept me going to work.
6. Drive like a puss until I get out of town.

Then again could going a little crazy waiting.
Rob

Only way thay you'll see 60mpg is if you're the troll in that other thread -- whatshisname -- uhhhh--CLS...ya dats it.

Cls? I hear he's a great guy, just misunderstood...This is another productive attempt. Gentlemen, I believe you are mistaken. I have had the "Low Fuel"warning come on 3 times now. According to the manual (Which I just read last night, believe it, or not.), and backed by my actual experience, the warning comes on at the 1.1 gallon reserve. You have to push and hold the "Mode" button for several seconds and the display will go back to whatever setting you had it on, prior to the warning coming up. The red "Warning" light at the left of the dash will light up brightly, however. You can then scroll through the functions as before, except the "Range" will not show. So, it won't continue the range countdown, but you can get back to your trip meters, etc.

In addition, if you push and hold both "Mode" and "Reset" buttons at the same time and hold them down, you get to the "Shift light", "Language", "Clock", etc. functions. FYI.

Unless the bikes are different for some reason, that's what my manual said (Really close to what it said, anyway. That's from memory.), and more importantly, I know that's how it worked when I actually did it. I like that stuff, so I messed w/it a good bit.

Hope that helps. Let me know if it doesn't. Interesting if the bikes are set up differently. I can't imagine that...

I looked specifically for that in the owners manual the other day and didn't see it - but I keep leaving the dang thing at work, so I can't look again. I'll try that procedure when it happens again, but I just filled up, so it'll be a few days as I don't have any long rides planned this weekend

Pages 39-41, under "Feul Gauge", text and notes. From 41-50 for the other settings. I figured it out in practice before I read it, but it was not as intuitive as most bikes. Had to work it a bit...It'll do it.

My "Avg. mpg" has been very close, thus far. We'll see if it keeps up, as I start to ride it harder and harder.

I don't get a low fuel message...it just runs out of gas a while after all the bars disappear from the screen...I noticed that today -- said 45 miles on the range gauge with only a 1/2 gallon in the tank -- so I don't have your problem...:P

That's really strange. I have easily over a gallon left when the range says 45 miles. I wonder if there's some way to re-calibrate it? Are you you filling it to the top when you fill? It should say "over" on the screen if you have it close to maxed out.
