The unfortunate thing I have here in Ft Wayne (2nd largest city in Indiana with a whopping 1/4 million folks) is that there is ONE Kaw dealer, and they are about 1 year old, having bought out the Kaw franchise from the big dealer in the area that wanted to go to Harley and cruisers to get out of the sportsbike market.
I don't know them, they don't have a known history on service, customer or repair. I have to go about 50 miles to get to the next closest one (unless there is another closer I don't know about).
This means I am somewhat at this dealer's mercy, and although 10,999 is okay, some of the numbers I see here might be useful when I actually sit down to cut the deal. If I cannot get a lower pricetag, I will see if they can throw in a service manual, tank bra, and a tank bag. Maybe they would be willing to throw in 3 incidental items at their cost rather than drop their sale price, easier to hide the sale price of a bike this way when they sell to other customers.

quote: I paid $12,500 OTD (7.375% tax, $140 title) in California. Most dealers here are quoting $13,400 OTD.
Since taxes and DMV fees vary from state to state and even from county to county, OTD prices will vary. Some states may not have taxes on motorcycles which can lower OTD costs by $1,000 or more.
Yep ..... I was 12,598 and that was them taking 500.00 off MSRP !

I had a deal for $10,054.00 otd.
Its in the toilet now. I posted money as a deposit to show how serious I was BEFORE it was announced to dealers. The dealer wasnt serious about keeping me happy and Kawi was slow to deliver. Therefore they lose a sale. One of you guys paying $12k++ for the bikes will jump on it for sure....lol.
Ill wait on the fence and buy one up for low to mid 9s come September or next year. Same crap happened with the Zx12s in 2000. People paying $11k, 12k, and I even saw a deal inked for $14200 back then. You couldnt give those bikes away...lol.
I have no problem with dealers making every dime they can off you "occassional" consumers. Some of us buy a new bike AND thousands of dollars worth of accessories annually.

Steve,
In some locations, you could make a profit from reselling that 14. If left new, or in the crate?
