Gas mileage worry?
Yes, I'm worrying if I need two or three stops on a German highway on the way to Apls
perhaps BMW R1200RT with it's extremely low consumption and huge tank
will give me the best range, but there must be a break-even point somewhere
I mean for the time spend on travelling through Germany
If I go faster the air friction will eat huge amounts of gasoline
then I need the extra stop and that lowers the average speed
Hmmm....
About saving on costs...yes - after paying 18500 euros or more for ZZR1400
You might need to think about that, too
6th gear how slow one will have to go to get the best mileage
or would the torque max rpm be the "sweet spot"?

Your effectiveness is ever decreasing as you get more and more out of control. Not much maturity and discipline for one riding such a serious bike. It concerns me. Be careful on your bike.

And, that' not letting it go. That's perpetuating it. A difference, you see?

My thoughts/actions or words don't concern you in the least -- you're completely full of shit. Trying to come across as the mature adult by making statements like this won't change anything. You're offended and for good reason too. But don't cry, once this all over, you can stop crying and go stockpile some gas, since you're going to need it should you get one of these bikes. I'm averaging 26 MPG now, (not that I give a shit) but just to show you what a standup guy I am and that I have no hard feelings towards you, I did some research on your behalf and got you this. http://www.tornadoair.com/WhereToBuy.php

Have a nice day now and when you get your bike, remember to feather the gas.

While I am not concerned about the actual economy as related to my pocketbook, I am very interested in the mileage as it relates to range per tank of fuel. When you live on the flat freaking prairies and are ripping through Saskatchewan at 5 in the morning hunting for a gas station that is open, never mind one with premium, the mileage is important. That has been my biggest complaint on my 00 12R. So keep the commentary up, and mention what kind of range most are seeing on a tank of fuel! Oh yeah how the fuck come Kawasaki can't give us Canucks a changable setting for speed readings. I do like to cross the border some times and guessing my speed all the time is a pain. Yes I do use a gps but the line of code could be added into the programming so the needle could be made to read in MPH or KM/hr.

While I appreicate the websight, you're still not listening...or thinking: 1) Again, for you, I HAVE my bike; 2) I'm averaging 38.7 during the first 143 miles of break-in; 3) I have not yet cried; 4) I'm quite the reasonable, mature adult; 5) I'm only full of crap right before I really, really have to hit the head; 6) "Feather the throttle," and driving like that mature adult preiously mentioned, are two very different things; and 7) Last, but not least, you have not begun to offend me. I assure you, you don't have what it takes to offend me. You'll have to try much harder than that, my son. Keep working.

You're the one bothered. Very easy to see/hear the anger and frustration in your entries. Cursing, and all. Go back and read 'em. Undeniable. It's really not worth my time to respond, except for the fact that I just think you deserve it. And it's working like a charm. You just can't let it go, can you?

You started, I get to finish...BTW, Excepting the flat spot between 3200-4000 rpm, the torque below 5K is acceptable and smooth, if not what it should be. I haven't noted any heat problems at all in 75 degree, GA weather. Handling is better than my 'Busa, as is acceleration. Wind protection is not bad, but not what it should be, IMO. Generally, I'm quite satisfied. My attempt at civility...Carry on, my man.

Agreed -- my wife's Vette does that...and as for mileage, I'm getting about 26MPG on the 1st tank...but I'm really pushing it using lower gears. Expect it would pull around 35-38 MPG (US) after I finsh breaking it in. Safe to assume that when she starts getting low in fuel, you're going to be looking quickly for a fuel stop.

I'm Canadian, not US...so if you're referring in part to me in your post, you might want to check profiles next time around -- and by the way, we call 'em dick's around here, not "weewee's". I guess that's what you call 'em in Belgium, eh mon grand?

I love Begian French fries though...with lot's of good Helman's mayo on them.....at least that's what they call 'em around here. One of the great things about this board is that you can tell people how you really feel when they piss you off and not have to pussyfoot around with blanked out cuss words in order not to get tossed.

I can let it go -- easily, but I have preferred not to, as have you apparently. You respond, because you want to get the last word not and just because you think I deserve it and that's fine, just need to admit the truth to yourself. As far as profanity goes, that's the way I have always been and it gets the point across quite well, clearly demonstrated by your reactions. Now, I'm quite prepared to call it quits and stop razzin ya...we've both had our fun and games and you're probably a decent straight up guy, so I'm not go to berate you anymore. Enough is enough...enjoy your bike as it was meant to be enjoyed, after all, that's what this is all about...just keep the rubber side down, shiny side up (as the HD guys say)! I'm not an angry man by nature, just expressive and colorful.

Sorry about that -- I had thought that for some reason but just let it go. I wouldn't know if they can cook them right or not...but I'll take your workd for it. Far as mileage goes, chacun a son gout. It's been beaten to death here anyway. The bike pics are in my "1st ride thoughts" thread...and I'll post more when i'm done ridin it!

I'm not, and never was, angry. I don't even know you. How can I put that much stake in what was said? It was an opportunity to make a point. I did, however, think it was great fun responding to an uncalled for attack. Why my interest in something practical would cause such a knee-jerk reaction, I still don't understand. I get that you may not care about mpg, but why get so ticked if I do? Doesn't make sense...

In any event, I'm one of the nicest guys in the world, if I do say so myself. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and now I think I'll go enjoy my bike. I trust you will do, likewise.

Take it easy.

Oh, please! Tell me we're not going to do this again...Ok. Tell me how I'm breaking it in. Don't leave out any details. Then give me the historical, empirical, scientific backing for one way over the other. Something I haven't already seen or heard.

BTW, aren't you the guy who's scared to hit the throttle? From your own posts, as I recall. Hmmm...

Yup... skeered... that's me!

Have you taken your "new" bike to redline in 1st yet? I have... Has your bike seen 175 yet? I didn't think so.

If neither of those events doesn't put a little fear in you, then more power to ya!

I have done neither of those things, yet. Nor will I, until the bike is broken in. Then, if all goes well, I shall see that and more, but only on a relatively rare occasion. Already have on the 'Busa. In addition, as a matter of interest, you may want to note the difference between "fear" and "respect."

Not sure why you felt the need to attack, but so be it. Fortunately, I'm a big, grown-up fella'.

The initiation of this line originates w/your unsolicited, belittling response to a post of mine to someone else. You don't reckon that's a bit inflammatory? Come on. You got it in you. Just fess up. It happens. You got a little snotty and wanted to get a little kick in. At least man up...

I'm afraid I don't know the "Greg" ref., so I'll have to pass.

What, you think you can attack one person and not hear anything from other guys here? My response was tongue-in-cheek to your pounding your chest telling fba off. It was accurate, and I stand behind it. I can poke fun all I want, and you can either suck it up and take it, or you can leave.

Up to you too...

Yer a stand up guy Matt -- Kudos to you buddy...how's the ridin been for ya? Im enjoying the shit outta this puppy...I have had her pinned and redlined in 1st & 2nd (maybe 6th too but didn't look down) it's nuts this bike, just nuts I tell ya. I've taken the last 2 days off just to go out and break her in...after having the Busa for 2 years and thinking it was the most spectacular ride around, I stand corrected...14 takes that title now!
