Discount extended warranties
I decided that I am going to get an extended warrantee with the 14. I had planned on buying it from the dealer when I picked up the bike, but I have had too much time on my hands during the wait. I found this place on line,
http://www.discounthondawarranties.com/kawasaki-plans_street-ninja.html#kawasaki
They are WAY cheaper than anywhere else I have seen. I am going to see if my dealer will meet this, otherwise save $250 and buy it through them. I believe the regular price for the extra 48 months is $640, these guys are $389.

Good find! Thanks. I would bet that the dealer would match the price if you printed out the page. Extended warranties as a whole are pure profit for a manufacture or dealer so they can be easily discounted.
Florida riders take note; "NOTICE: The online sale of extended warranty plans to Florida residents is prohibited by the State of Florida."

Can extended warranties be purchased at any time during the initial 1 year warranty or does it have to be purchased at the time of sale?

I was under the impression when I bought my last Kawi that the extended warranty could be purchased at any time before the manufacturer's original warranty ran out.
On the other hand, I'll bet that the dealer will be more inclined to give you a discount if you lump it in with the sale.

Is it just me, or does that website look a little scary? I mean there's absoultely no information about WHO you are buying this warranty from - no company name, no contact information, NOTHING. Who's to say that this place is even an authorized reseller of factory maintenance plans?
I did a quick whois search on the domain, and it provides absolutely no useable contact information about the actual owner, only the host/registrar.
Scary... I don't think I'd be giving them any money without a name, physical address, and phone number to call if the warranty turns out to be bogus.

You may be right. It seems more than a little odd that they are selling actual Honda and Kawasaki factory warranties. It makes absolutely no sense for the mfg to allow this. I bet it's a scam.

I have seen several places that do this. Some that I know for sure a reputable as I've bought other things from them. I'm not saying for sure this one isn't dodgy, but pay by Visa and you're covered. It is a Kawasaki plan that they are offering, not an aftermarket company. I've have done this before with a Honda and it worked out fine.
Yes, you can purchase a warranty anytime in the first year.
I am planning on getting my dealer to price match if they will, so all concerns will be out the window.

I'm really curious why the mfg would allow this. Do they simply contract out the warranty program and allow them to sell their warranties on their own? They are probably correct in assuming that most people would buy them from the dealer or mfg, not knowing they could be bought elsewhere. It just seem strange to me.
I agree that the price match is a great bargaining chip.

Only Kawa dealers can sell Kawa warranties, other than Kawa, forgetaboutit!
Wait until the last day of your 1 year factory warranty and go to eBay and buy one cheap!
Also it's great if you sell through private parties because you really don't want to give test rides on a 190HP bike, so you can say mechanical is guaranteed via an extended warranty!
It's probably worth about a $1,000 to you, as opposed to a trade in at a dealer on a new bike.

hey guys i didnt buy an extended warranty at purchase, when i bought my zx 10. but before the year was over there was one in the mail. for less than the original. the good thing about it is you ride the first year on kawi. then purchase the extended and you get more time. why buy a three yr warranty at the beginning and you only get 2 yr. and be careful and read the fine print. wear items are not usually covered. dealer service intervals are usually required from the beginning. and some aftermarket acc. will void the warranty. even some headers. i know the Muzzy pipes dont but dont know who else.

Extended warranties go into effect after the initial period is up, so 1 year standard warranty + 3 years extended = 4 years coverage.
