...so lemme understand this: a world-recognized magazine gets a busa to beat a 12R however marginally and all the busa fans wax eloquent about how its the speedking of all time...and on the streets, the 12R usually waxes the busa, so the the Ninja riders claim that they have the baddest superbike of all time...fast forward to 2006 and the magazine journos go on a 2~3 day romp on the ZX-14 and they are telling us that the ZX14 is the baddest street bike of all time, but out comes the independant dyno numbers and some of the Ninja-freaks are disappointed, some are skeptical, some are encouraged, and some are canceling their orders cuz' its not here yet after all the hype and hoopala...hell some even go as far as saying that the busa is the kingshit of all time till the end of time...yet...here we have some recognized pros actually dragging the bike at a major meet and posting some incredible et/mph numbers....

...the moral of this story is: be depressed all you like about the 'disappointing' dyno numbers, bitch about how your busa will always be the best, and yak about yesteryear's news regarding busas, blackbirds, and badass 12Rs....right out of the box the ZX-14 obviously delivers its available power to the ground efficiently in the right hands to post those incredible et/mph numbers no matter what the dyno says...a strap here, a pipe there, and the clear-headed and experienced 130~150lb rider in the saddle will smoke any 200~250lb magazine reading nostalgic street-racing whiner on any busa, blackbird, or 12R that have been modded the same way...and then what?

...I can't wait to get my own, but just because it'll fit me, I'll have more than adequate power on the street, and then for nothing else but to say I've always wanted to own and ride one

Yes the 14 is the new freak on the block.
shift light, launch lights, stout clutch and forward centralized mass.
Built to launch!
It was designed for dragstrip use , and happens to be civilized and comfortable.
Kawasaki did it right making it sport tour and drag friendly, because between these 2 small niches, one bike fits and therefor $ made vs $ spent = profit increases.
Tooling, and development $ spent 1 time for 2 markets = wise business.

Lets not fool ourselves though, they did not produce a bike so powerful it would turn the world on its ear.
Just like every other bike incrementally power increased, this bike is not an unbelievable advance in power.
It is an advance, but not a renown one.
Considering rider talent is equal, 220 lb rider on a stock zx14 VS. 150 lb rider on a stock busa , the busa will still appear the winner....
Its the physics HP / weight.

Lets not all fool ourselves, even if we had the talent and experience of Ryan or Rickey, but outweigh them by 50-90 lbs, the outcome will not be the same.
Maybe thats why everyone proclaimed the 1st zx12r Rickey rode were ringers.
I can't think of anyone who has his experience, resources, or oportunity to produce the results he did with those bikes.

In summary, zx-14 is the new freak, and has made some unreal et/mph already.
These guys are pro's, and their results most likely will not represent ours.
The difference between their results on zx12r and ours, will likely be equivalent on the zx14.

Just don't go off half cocked beside someone on a well tuned busa with a flyweight pilot.
You may get yur ass handed to ya .

In life there will ALWAYS be someone faster, tougher, stronger, bigger, smarter, or meaner.
Don't blame the bike when it doesn't work miracles for you!
It will be the -NEW- BEST BIKE !

That said lets all enjoy our new rides, ride safe, and ride smart.

.......Oh yeah and eye the opponent before asking for a gunfight.
.... It would really suck to have an inexperienced rider on a new 14 embarrass us because he lost a race to a Hardly V Rod or sumptin.

Yes, no doubt Brock has done a terrific job helping us all out, but many of the dyno sheets posted are STD Hp, reading high. Then they get compared to a SAE graph...this was done on the first page of this thread too!

None the less, the Brock products have been proven, time and time again, no matter what a dyno sheet reads!

I just read the diaries, read them if you haven't!! Totally awesome!

Here are the graphs from my 14's dyno runs last year. The first runs were with all the parts fitted but running on a zero map. Also this was before removing the secondary throttle butterflies, hence the dip between 3 and 4 thousand rpm. (If anyone wants a justification for removing the flies just take a look at the Torque curve) Note STD power so take about 4% off when comparing. Still nice power though and got me to 205mph.

I don't think the stock one is too bad.
The brocks/hindle is pretty good up top, holds peak over 175 HP for 2500RPM, and midrange torque is still good.
Put it this way, the bike will be better for launching, and the added bulge will make a subtantial difference compared to anything else out there.
Re gear that sucka from 17/41 to 16/43 and you have increased the torque advantage by another 12 %.
That will suprise anyone who pulls up beside you!
And.... still deliver 186 mph at redline!

zx12r for comparison:

busa :

05 GSXR1000 on MR9 so subtract about 8%:

How is it possible for a ZX-14 to be geared at 16/43 and still pull a 186 top end I am revving out at 175?
