25 $ fee
This site seems to have a 25$ fee
perhaps the same alien spirit that took over Greg
has now taken someone else?

....not a fee...justa' tongue-in-cheek' hard sell my the fisherman to buy his t-shirts....you are encouraged to buy from the sponsors...and buuy if they have what you want or need..., but you're not required to buy anything from anyone while you're enjoying the free benefit of participating on the site.......but it'd be nice

No fees... just fish trying to recoup the money that he's out to have these shirts made. He's really just doing it as a service to the "group".
He's not forcing you (or anyone else) to buy anything, but I think he's a bit annoyed with your responses to some of his plugs to buy shirts.... and now he's on the lookout for opportunities to give you a hard time about it
The bottom line is this: Is $25 really a big deal? No. Would it be cool to have a shirt that actually says ZX-14 on it before you have your bike - or for your first outing on the bike? Yes, I believe it is.
The other factor here is that Bikeland (who knows who Bikeland really is? A group of motorcycle fans in B.C., I'm assuming), is really just a group of people who had an idea to put together a service like this forum to allow all of us to discuss one of our favorite topics. I, personally, feel like being a "nice guy" and helping them out in whatever way they ask is simply the right thing to do. Do they require it? No. Should we do it anyway? Yes. If they had a paypal account and accepted donations when server or bandwidth upgrades were on the horizon, would I help out? Yes. That's just how I roll.

VPN :
I don't have a problem paying $25 for a cool, high quality shirt, and in the process supporting a great site, with great people, and great info !
In my mind it is a great way to drum up income for the website / server operating costs, ....whether that was the intent or not!
Even if you don't want or like the shirt, think of it as a donation, a token of appeciation!
These people donate a lot of time and effort into operating, administering, and moderating this forum.
Thanks to ALL BTW
Fishy stick, went out on a limb to make shirts for us.
Don't leave him stranded with a bunch of shirts and overhead expense!

...I understand that he makes no money from the t-shirt sales....it is a cool way to advertise his website....so in exchange for free participation on his website, you could provide free advertising of his website by wearing the t-shirt ....but the t-shirts are not free, they can't afford to do that...
...look at it this way:...do you wear clothing with 'brand labels ' on them?....or how about that t-shirt with company logos that you bought from that popular bar or motorcycle dealership on your last vacation?...what have these 'companies' done for you except to show your family, friends, and strangers what a cool guy you are to wear it or to have been there?...you can't log-on to some if not any of these 'companies' and have fun, glean info, and make what could turn out to be life-long friends...naw, you just bought stuff from the right to advertise for them for free....
...but at least advertising for bikeland gets you something in return ie. a better way than the shop manual instructs you to do some things to your bike, ingenious ways from other participants to make your bike better, free tips from motorcycle industry movers and shakers....I could go on with the benefits, but I think you'll eventually get my drift

$25 Euro , not US $ will only buy you 10 liters of fuel over there.
$25 US would buy about 8 litres/ 2 gallons over there!

FYI, we have never made any profits from the tshirt sales. what profits we have from sales have been lost in the cost of the shirts we've given away. it wouldn't be so bad except the shipping borders on exorbitant, and i'm just talking to the US. chances are if you ordered shirt VPN, we'de be losing money on it as the shipping cost would liekly eat up almost all of the $25. I believe the last shirts we sent overseas ran $27 for 2 (ie. over 50% of the sale). so for my $0.02, i prefer you DON'T order a shirt, fuck what fish says
