Poll Question:
Are you pleased with Kawasaki right now?

Ok, I'll go ahead and start this... please let us know how you are feeling right now regarding how Kawasaki has handled the release of the new ZX-14 Ninja. I know there are many of us that decided that the ZX-14 would be our next motorcycle as soon as we heard Kawasaki first mention it. I know I did!

So, how do you feel about the wait and how Kawasaki has communicated the release date and/or delays from the original arrival date that many of us were quoted by our dealers. The two dealers that I am involved with both told me that they would have ZX-14's by "late February, early March".

How do you feel now?

Still have my SV 650 for motoring around on. We still have lots of snow, so it will probably be mid April before I'm out even on the SV. There really is no point in getting all bent about the bikes not being here yet. They will get here when they get here!
Probably a few last adjustments to the final spec. have caused the delay or possibly supplier issues.
I really don't think we have a conspiracy from Kawasaki keeping the bike out of our hands! Kawasaki certainly wants to sell the bikes and start to recoup the millions of development dollars they have spent on this new bike.

Tons of snow here. I can wait another 3 or 4 weeks. They have to clean the sand off of the roads after the snow is melted. Mid April at best for the start of the riding season.
That's just more time go get $$ to pay for the new toy!

Snow disappeared the last days and tomorrow we'll get about 10°C (for the first time this year!). Perfect conditions to ride!
But the ZZR-1100 is sold and no information about the ZZR-1400.

d) I need a blow job now

Mixed emotions on all the above. I might go get another 10R if not here with in 2 weeks got a annual deals gap trip planned. Somebody lied to me and it was more than a couple of dealers. Wish it had a slipper clutch and damn it sure does look like fat pig to me... Haven't ridden one or seen it in person but they got us by our balls right not because nothing else out there.... Which they had a revised ZX12RR w/ slipper clutch, wave rotors and on a crack diet.....

Mine Too!

NOT LOOKING FOR A DEBATE this is my " OPINION"

Back when I found the real HP numbers, I thought about going to a different bike, in fact different brand. GSXR 1000
Alot of hype for 10 more HP ...ALOT!

Fact is though for a bike with this much potential, comfort, new componentry, and potential, and comfort and potential.....
Guess you got my point?

I too am without a bike right now .
Old zx12r sold!
If I buy a gixxer, I knew I would be fed up with the ergo's.
In fact if I buy anything but the new busa which is not here, and may be a while, no matter what i ride , a trade would be innevitable.
So, I buy the , zx14 and add HP for the next few years.
In fact I think I made up my mind with Nitrous, when I desire more than just a pipe.
I can easilly bolt it onto my next bike in 3 yrs!

For those who want the latest technology, newest componentry, best comfort, and a real road burner, without losing $ next year trading up.
This is the only choice!

I can't ride mine yet, still snow on the roads!

You seem to be stuck on hp. Go look at torque.

No, no I'm not.

But here's my question -- Do you honestly believe Kawasaki gives a flying rat's ass if I'm frustrated with them?

it takes torque to make HP anyway !
...........That was a given
I want it all ! , and I want it now..........

Personally,I believe the big bores are aimed at straight lining, brunt exceleration.Sport tourers would have a different torque curve. So if the bike was looked at to race, the monocoque frame sucks for engine removal and turbo.Sure you can do it,but it is not as simple as awrap around frame. The motor now has the cylinder incorporated with the top casing so stroking it is out of the question. Will that limit people to what classes they'll be able to run competitively in?Entropy might have the fastest normally asperated 12 on here with all he has in it,and he's around 225-230hp.A hayabusa with a 1397 kit head work and cams will be 5-10 over the kaw.I just feel Kawasaki missed the boat on the 12 and it will be the same for the 14.If I had to do it all over again,I'ld go with Suzuki.

Better tell Rob Muzzy that cause he's building a stroker motor , and turbo kits for it right now!
A longer stroke motor will use shorter rods .... there for the deck height is moot!

Since I'm a moderately fat bastidge, I don't worry bout drag racing. Tho I have had fun. Same goes for Road Racing. I *AM* interested in a competent GT / Sports Tourer. One with ABS and hard luggage. That seems to rule out the ZX14...

FISH I KNOW THE CAPS WILL GET YOUR ATTENTION
I just wanted to say thanks for the good write up on the 14. It got me excited even if it didn't have all the features I wanted. It made me feel better about waiting a little longer for the bike. The article looks to me was wrote with honesty and not any Bs.. Thanks Again

Thanks for bringing that up, Drowland. I agree completely.

I knew the 14 had all of the features that I was looking for as soon as I saw the list released by Kawasaki. I love my ZZR, but I want newer technology and all of the cool new goodies. Kawasaki listed them, and hit a bullseye as far as I'm concerned. Fish's write-up was a great final confirmation that the bike is for real and is a capable street bike for those who want a big bike with tons of power, yet handles like a much smaller, lighter bike.

I've enjoyed reading all of the other reviews that we've all seen so far too, and they all confirm Fish's view. Nobody that has ridden the bike was able to come up with serious (or even moderate) negatives... that says a lot about what Kawasaki has accomplished with this bike.

So the timing hasn't worked out like we all want it to. Oh well... what can we do? We can wait, or we can buy something else now... today... tomorrow... whenever. Personally, I'm going to wait. It'll be worth it.

I am selling my Yamaha FJR to get myself a ZX14. I had to wait along time to get that bike. I am in Minnesota and the dealer I am going to go to told me April would be the delivery date. Do you think that is correct? I sold a bike before buying my FJR and I was without a bike for months. It realy pissed me off. Is the dealer blowing smoke or does this sound right?
Thanks,
Steve
