I was close to buying a 'Busa until I rode one. I had got past the looks of the thing. I just wanted to do a demo ride to confirm it was the bike for me. I'm glad I did the demo as I was not as impressed as I thought I would be.

Sure the power was pretty nuts, but I found my head was constantly being buffeted by the wind at highway speeds. The foot pegs are high relative to the seat so I felt cramped (I'm 6' 1 1/2" tall) and the angle and height of the clip on's felt wrong. All of the above can be corrected of course. The '14 has better brakes than the 'Busa as well, which still has old tech 6 pot non radial brakes.

I actually sat on the '14 at the Edmonton bike show back in January. I was there early on the first day and a rep. let me have a quick sit on the 'hands off' display. Sitting on a static bike is course not the same as riding it, but the relation of seat to pegs to clip on's felt comfortable right away to me.

I'm not into the 1/4 mile thing at all, so if the new 'Busa is 3 /10th's of a second than the '14 I really couldn't care. I really like more showing some rich prick in their Viper, Turbo 911 or Z-06 Corvette what real performance is from a roll on on the highway.

One thing no one has commented on is the glorious exhaust sound an inline 6 makes with a pipe on it. I still think a CBX Honda with a pipe is the best sounding bike ever. I think the reality of a 6 cylinder 'Busa is about the same as a nuclear powered one coming any time soon!

Unless your state has a website dedicated to world class twisties, where an average hardcore sport bike rider could spend several fantastic years and thousands of miles exploring them and unless your state attracts the worlds most beautiful women who come to Hollywood seeking fame and just happen to be at a stop light where you're on your new ZX14 and she rolls down the window and says" Hi handsome nice bike"

Just maybe you know what I am talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go here and see what California is about for bike fanatics, spend an hour looking and drooling on me, http://www.pashnit.com

I AM SHOCKED Pashnit.com's California Motorcycle Roads is now available via a $20 yearly subscription.

I'n not sure that some see the big picture here...ZX14 address all the problems that the Busa and ZX12 had , making it an all round bike...Not that the busa had many problems but a few dislikes like bad head lites, good brakes but not great brakes, hard on your back and hands on long rides, hard to see gauges for the taller guys, handling not the greatest but not bad for a big heavy bike.. The 12 had many of the same dislikes plus no low end grunt ....... The guys at Kawi fixed all these problems, at least that's what we have seen and been told.....
Now back to the new Busa if there is going to be a new Busa, don't you think Zook would look at fixing the same problem as did Kawi? If they didn't what would be the point? I for one feel the Busa will get an up date , more power, better handling, better lighting and better rider comfort .. Do i think Zook will out power the zx14 ? No maybe match it or just best it by a few hp but nothing that will rattle the earth as we see it.... I do feel that Kawi held back a few ponies just in case zook one upped the zx14 in 2007 .....Back to the looks of both bikes, both are not great looking bikes but it's hard to shape a bike to cut the wind and still make it look great... There are only a few shapes that will cut the wind and is it no wonder that the bikes look close in shape and size... I have no clue if that 6 cly Busa pictured is real but if a V6 is used i'm sure it will be a good one as long as they keep the bore small and stroke long it will make a ton of torq.....A inline 6 would be out of the picture because of it would be just to wide for a sports bike ..... I had a CBX brand new in 79 and loved it, There is nothing like the sound of a 6 at 12000 RPM to get you blood pumping .. The busa does not need 6 , all that needed is a little more CCs, handling and brakes ...ect .. Not that hard to do just copy the ZX14.....

....so it would seem alot of potential ZX-14 buyers are looking at straightway performance...1/4 mile, 75mph roll-ons, or ultimate top speed runs...it seems no-one cares about the cornering performance of this bike...

That's because Wormy, you and I live in Californy with hwy 74 close by, imagine most of the rest of the US where the only turn you make is into your driveway.

They could build an i6 and keep it very close to the dimensions of the current 1300 motor. The bores wouldn't stay the same, it's not like they just stick a cylinder to each side. If that were true, the new motor would be over 1900 cc. Even if it were a bit wider, the fairings could just be tucked in tighter to the frame and motor and keep the same overall width of the bike.

I swear worm, if I were a kid, I'd want you for my dad. You are so down to earth.

But if I read swft's quote like this: "You really don't know shit about the rest of the US, do you?" I'd say there is never enough HP. Would you believe I lost 12 lbs. (so far) just to make more HP? It's probably water, but I am overweight, and what the hell, the 14 is a bike to go fast on. I can wait out the 14 no problem. I took it as an incentive to shed the pounds.
If the Suz-6 is faster, then I die broke... swapping hardware.
I want a thin fast dart. Pray for an electric motor on 2 wheels from any of the big 4. Can you imagine the math changing to Ohm's Law?...... Dub, and the others going at it on a new model coming out.... "You call that bike with Amps?' 'That's a grandpa bike Gramps!"

BTW Dub, could you help me out on a math computation? I think fuel is 7lbs. @ 1HP. What's the formula for chocolate coated fat tissue?

Ha ha
weight to HP is all relative.
Don't know what you weigh or intend to lose but an example:
bike and rider = 550 + 250 =800 lbs/ 170 rwhp = 4.71 lbs/hp
bike and rider = 550 + 200 = 750lbs/ 170 rwhp= 4.41 lbs/hp

4.41/4.71= 93%
your combo will accellerate approx 6.5% quicker.

800 lbs/ 220 hp(50 shot N2O)= 3.6 lb/hp = 25% quicker accelleration!

A pipe or Nitrous would be easier route but less satisfying.
The chicks might dig your new body,
Unless the pipe is a bong...... it won't help you with women!

Having lifted weights for years I can tell you each pound is approximatley 3600 calories.
Each gram of fat contains 9 calories
Each gr of carbs is 7 calories
Each gr of protein is 4 calories.

in theory you could eat a pound of food of pure protien content at the expense of less than 1/2 calories if it was 1 pound of pure fat.
Also your body does not store fat calories as readilly as carb calories, due to insulin reaction.

The best way to shed fat is to increase muscle mass, while reducing caloric intake.
Specifically reduce the carb / sugar intake.
The increased muscle mass increases metabloic rate.
Your body burns more calories then even at rest!

Lift weights, and stay away from sugar and high carb foods.

Now put down that beer! lift some weights, hook up a bottle and go get layed!

Sorry to jack the thread.

I lift heavy weifghts each time I go up the stairs or even stand up!
Somehow I manage to munch more calories in than burn out
If I just could get under 200lbs (90kg) again...
I'd rather be skinny 149,9 pounder
and fit my old leather jacket once more!
I'm on a diet...
