The preproduction ZX12r that gadson rode to a 9.52 146.97mph had a 55.7 inch wheel base. The same as a ZX9R! I bet that bike handled damn good as well.
supra
btw wheel base 00-01 production 56.5in
02-05 wheel base 57.1

Hey Fish........I have a couple questions.........
Does the 14 have more or less wind protection when just cruising down the road?
And which is more comfortable? The 12 or 14?
Good sport tourer you think?
Thanks....

warbird... zx14 had more windprotection IMHO, and was hands down more comfortable. This bike IS a sport tourer. Perfect for long hauls and taking runs in the canyons. It doesnt turn like a ZX-10R, but it does turn faster/easier than a ZX-12R, and does it more comfortably. It really was a pleasure to ride..

Mike, whats the clutch difference at launch between the 12 and 14???...stock 12 motor and your 1270 motor compared to the 14???
Did the clutch chatter???
Did they do anything to the clutch???
Did you make any passes with the Muzzy piped, slammed 14???...What was the gearing???
Did you see the clutch cover off, whats it look like compared to the 12 and how did the steels look after how many back to back passes were made on the 14???

almost in bed.....
clutch chatter, NEVER!!! I was actually up there at the starting line for most of both days.... and not one time did ever hear any chatter at launch.... and this was with a few drag racers and many non-drag racers.
what do you mean by did they do anything to it?
Nope, I did not get to make any passes on it, but boy did I sure try.... and Not sure on the gearing, the one question I forgot to ask... dought!!!
Yes I saw the clutch cover off and it looks good!! the basket looks thicker then the 12's... and the hub and pressure plate are kind of weird, being that the grooves in the hub is different. There are 5 grooves then then they skip a groove, and then 5 more all the way around the hub kind of like this..... ^^^^^--^^^^^--^^^^^
ok think of that but round of course... oh and the springs are put on with actual bolt heads not allen heads...
And the way they ran the entire weekend was crazy, 4 bikes hot lap 4 times, switch bikes and riders, and again 4 hot laps for 4 times and that was done with 11different groups (fish and I swaped turns in the morning on monday) and I made 12 passes, and Fish made 8 I believe, so that is 20 passes x 11= 220 total passes, give or take 30... and 220/8 = 28 passes, that is 4 hot laps 7 times with 15-30 min. of cool down between hot laps. And they swapped out the clutches and they looked great, Rob Muzzy told them they could send them up and he would use them in their bike..... and then on tuesday it was 11 riders, from 1:30 - 5:30 and and we all made about 24 passes each, which again is about 33 passes per bike with 4 hot laps and 20 min cool down and then again 4 hot laps... and we did not lose a single clutch, nor did I notice any fade at all... so I would have to say this is the most bullet proof clutch I have ever seen in my life!!

and the feel of the new clutch feels like a cable??? I am not 100% how the hell they do it, but I know it has something to do with the brand new design of the hydrolic clutch....

I don't really care about all this drag racing thingy. Sure it is cool to know the bike is able to this or that, but I'm really interested in road tests. So, how does the bike handles on open roads, a bit more info than "fine", "ok" or "incredible" will be appreciated I assure you :-)

Yes, how's it to ride on road that turns. Also one little question about the lights. Are the low beam on the center? Because in one of those pics only the center ones are lighted an on some all the 4! Did You happen to check? And how about that picture from the trunk? Have You any idea of the mileage it pulls? On some topic someone said that it has driving computer - what did it show?

How is that launch indicator workin out - did it help?
Is the engine mechanically loud like the 10R?
Are the valves beatin the shit outta themselves with a resounding clattering on these launches?
How does the acceleration feel - more torque or HP (IE: does it feel like yer waitin for the hp ta pull it outta the hole or is the torque right there)?
Good "feel" from the hydraulic clutch?
Clutch grabby, progressive?
d) Hookers?
Just in case ya didn't see these the first time.
