Morning Everyone

Hey Fish and Freek I hope you enjoy the ride here in Vegas. Watch out for the cages out here if you get to hit the main roads. We have a special breed of brain dead drivers out here.
The high today should be 64 degrees with a chance of rain should be fun. Keep your head up and wheels planted.

Later.

As for how the bike feels and rides.. it's bizarre and both mike and I are a little taken aback as it feels considerably LIGHTER than a ZX-12R and turns easier/ faster... it catches you off guard and it's taking some getting used to as there is a real disconnect between how big the bike looks and how I expect it to feel, and then how it actually feels.. sorry ... still hard to put it into words...

It just keeps getting better! If the 14 feels that much better than a 12R, I can't imagine how much better than my ZZR it will feel... it'll probably feel like cornering with a literbike for me!

Does it accelerate comparable to a 2004 ZX-10R? sounds like it judging by Mad Mikes 10.40 1/4 mile time and 137mph... I got 10.3 on my 10R when stock... torque has to be better present everywhere on the ZX-14 I would naturaly expect...

Can't buy a ZX-14 right now ; comparable stock 1/4 mile times makes me feel not so left behind...hehe.

Rickey G on the same stock bike ran a 9.92 at like 145... you saw ryans already. Brock Davidson ran a 10.18 and here are my stats from my best pass.

1.852 = 60'
4.634 = 330'
6.861 = 1/8th
110.48mph
8.774 = 1000
10.404 = 1/4
136.86mph
on that pass I bumped limiter going into 4th, righ at the traps.... So I am only geting into 4th for oh the last 75ft or less.... regear, lower, strap, and a pipe and this bike is going to be a monster at the strip....
oh Rickey only made like 2 passes on the stock bike....so he would have gotten into the 80's for sure... and if anyone is interested I weigh in at 240 with no gear, so you can figure your mph from there. ryan weighs 140 "maybe" and he ran 147, so like a 10mph slide... 137.4 was my best mph 4-5times...

Careful on the city streets out there, slick shit.

How is that launch indicator workin out - did it help?

Is the engine mechanically loud like the 10R?

Are the valves beatin the shit outta themselves with a resounding clattering on these launches?

How does the acceleration feel - more torque or HP (IE: does it feel like yer waitin for the hp ta pull it outta the hole or is the torque right there)?

Good "feel" from the hydraulic clutch?

Clutch grabby, progressive?

d) Hookers?

Guess I expected more..... Almost sounds like late 1999 early 2000 all over again, I hope that isn't the case.

1. But is it a chick magnet?
2. Any word on when they will be in the showrooms?
3. How are the stoppers? Two finger braking?
4. Ask the Kawi engineers the purpose or function of the much maligned side grills. I suspect they are there for a good reason.
5. What tires are stock? Are they a special tire to handle the power and weight?
6. How is the wind protection with the low screen? I suspect double bubbles will be popular.
7. How does it sound?

NO NO NO!.... have some common sense...can't you read a dyno sheet ...It's 300 hp at 1500 rpm and 225 ft-lbs torque at 1000 rpm, at 75 degrees fahrenheit.

Is this the the dyno sheet with wet nitrous...

Translating the dynos in my head
The low end grunt is diddapointing
Not that much different from the Busa's
For action you need 3000 rpm
Although around 5000 it starts to kick in
and at peak torque (7500rpm) the difference is clear
So this is an "R" after all - I'm not happy
I think I'll wait for the new Busa....

Umm, if "for action you need [at least] 3000 rpm" that's just how it is. The answer is to drop a gear if wanting to accelerate and being below 3000 rpm... not wanting the engine to be more detuned.

Huh? ...detuned....why on earth everyone wants just peak hp???
You get that with a turbo!
Hmmm...
some cars have adjustable in/out vent timings
for better low-mid-range power
Why can't we have taht on bikes?
Are they hydraulic and weight a lot or what?
SOmebody explain this to me, please!

Eyeballing the graphs, ZX14 has aprox. 15% more peak torque and HP, and that is corresponding to 99.5 x 1.15 = 114.4 and 156 x 1.15 = 179.4 (aprox), numbers that lately have been circulating around.
Anyway you look at it, it is a great leap forward.: bigthumb

I'm beginning to like the 14 now that I can see some decent pics of it.

Still ain't diggin' those Testerossa filler panels though. They look cheap and added on to me. Is the motor not as pretty as the 12's and Kaw wants to hide it completely from view?
